As for myself, I found a definite improvement in loading speed when all the roboform add-ons are disabled, but this doesn't mean it is the root of all the problems. I still think there is something else in IE7 that is causing these slow responses in opening new tabs. It takes 2-5 seconds to open a t...

Roboform
Rube, Try disabling only Roboform add-ons (all of it's add-ons) and see if there is any significant improvement. Roboform Full Forms Save Forms Roboform ver. 6.xx Roboform Toolbar I just tried it and the time to load IE with 3 home pages showed improvement, but the time to open a new blank tab incre...

Different problems
Rube, The problem I am experiencing is a bit different, in that getting IE7 to load from scratch is taking a long time. Once the pages start downloading, it is pretty fast. It just took me 6 minutes to load 3 home pages even with the add-ons I disabled before still disabled. For tzuk: I finally got ...

Maybe not
Before getting to the point, I just noticed that when loading IE7 with no add-ons in SB, only 2 of my three home pages are loading, lthough all three show up in the Home drop-down menu. Bloomberg.com and dozleng.com load, but MyYahoo.com does not. If I close all tabs, and click the Home button, it l...

So much for that
Except for Sandboxie, I am not using even one of the other programs. So this seems to being us back to something in IE7.
tzuk, has anyone reported similar problems with IE6?

Running out of other things to try
I like the comparison idea. I wouldn't try all 52 programs that Rube may have, but together you can narrow this list by comparison, and then there would only be a few programs (hopefully) for me to test with Sandboxie. It may help to advance this issue. I was thinking of a very recent experience, w...

Start with security programs
I've got 50 at the moment. Security programs tend to get their hooks into places that can cause problems. So let's start with them. Here's the security programs I have active now - all latest versions and recently updated: Linkscanner Pro NOD32 Antivirus Zone Alarm Pro w/antispyware ProcessGuardPro ...

No choice?
Well, there's always the option of using another browser, or two or three!! :D I'm currently running sandboxed: 1. AM Browser with 32 tabs open 2. another two instances of AM browser with one tab open in each 3. Firefox with one tab open 4. Windows Live messenger 8 beta 5. Safari for Windows (it's s...

Disabled add-ons
tzuk, rube, I set up a new sandbox and disabled all the common add-ons out of the sandbox first. I did not count the initial delays for my security programs to kick in. I am measuring from the time I first see the IE7 interface until all three pages are loaded. Benchmark: IE unsandboxed with 3 home ...

Disabling add-ons
tzuk Will do, but as I am quite swamped with work right now, it might take a while. I'll get back with the results as soon as possible. I do recall that I did this before when we were testing earlier versions but never came to any conclusions except that possibly IE7Pro might be a problem, as might ...

Add-ons
tzuk, you may have misread my post, because I didn't mention anything about 4 add-ons. The add-ons I do have active in IE7 are: Browser extensions: Copernic Agent Pro Diagnose connection problems Favorites Search Fill Forms (Roboform) IE7 Pro preferences Launch Copernic Agent Make a screen shot Prox...

No major differences
What I found a bit strange after reading the above comments was that CNN.com loaded about twice as fast in IE7 (full) compared to loading the page in IE7 with no add-ons. But opening a new tab in IE7 takes about 4 times as long with the add-ons loaded (about 18 seconds compared to 5 seconds). Other ...

Sandboxie as workaround for MS Winword critical flaws
With three zero-day MS Word exploits in circulation, no Microsoft patches in sight, and no suggested workarounds from Microsoft, one workaround is to open incoming word documents in the sandbox. If you want to retain the information, just copy the text and paste it into a Notepad file out of the San...
