Re: A problem configuring Directory Opus to launch Sandboxie

Nice find. Re: SandBoxIE to harden SRP (software restriction policy)?

Sorry, catBot, I tested my dll and XP with SRP, for me this combination is not currently working. After SRP is taken off Unrestricted level, new Sandboxed processes quit pretty soon after they run. Interestingly and fortunately enough though... Sandboxie 4.02+ does (all?) what you proposed. Sandboxi...

Re: 4.17 Beta Available (Latest Version 4.17.8)

That's what's weird eh. And that warrants further analysis in user-land and beyond. [I'm so DONE with this.] Sandboxied processes get passed privileged handles like an upper-class kid in a candy store on one of those mornings when they break into song and liberate the hard candy. # Who can take tomo...

Re: 4.17 Beta Available (Latest Version 4.17.8)

Thanks for working on it. Is there a simple description of the hole somewhere? I found the thread hard to follow. InjectDll is not perfect, itself can be "worked around". A user-land hook/solution, the same. [Keep that in mind...] It's the last slice of example code here . Turn it into a more elega...

Re: 4.17 Beta Available (Latest Version 4.17.8)

Also: Any advice on mitigating the InjectDll issue? Is there any workaround? My latest InjectDll is the one and only, temporary, plug for the 4.x hole, currently, and forever the only way to mitigate the handle acquisition leak for Sandboxie versions that date prior to an official fix. I wouldn't b...

Re: 4.17 Beta Available (Latest Version 4.17.8)

Hi BUCKAROO Um, respectfully. Any chance you can explain (dumb down) your comment = SBIE does not fully support W8. My comment there was not meant to imply Sbie in W8+ was weaker. This wasn't the huge matter (of the mentioned leak), but just a glaring bug. Likely a string function passed the incorr...

Re: 4.17 Beta Available (Latest Version 4.17.8)

Is this bug going to be solved before 4.18 goes out? Process Exit status = (-1073740940) C0000374 STATUS_HEAP_CORRUPTION A C/C++ compiler isn't likely to generate code with alignment problems, so an undocumented function or internal structure has changed in Windows 8... one might say, Sandboxie has...

Re: Sandboxie on Windows 8 / multiple accounts for kids

Can I copy one of the games that the kids had under their user account (and up to now) within the same sandbox as all user accounts on this system to their new sandbox? They did have their own Sandbox subfolder, didn't they? Well of course. Now you can move their subfolder and situate it at their n...

Re: Sandboxie on Windows 8 / multiple accounts for kids

Heads up, with my last recommended .ini change (to protect your Sandbox files from the prying eyes of users of limited accounts on your PC), these warning messages appear occasionally at random for all Sandboxes at the same time (through the outlet of standard Sandboxie Control Messages dialog and E...

Re: urgent: crazy Sandboxie anomaly

Are you reading KB as MB briefly while the count is under 1 MB?
990 KB is roughly 0.99 MB so the initial MB reading reads 1 MB.

Re: Sandboxie on Windows 8 / multiple accounts for kids

Hi! Each user should be given their own Sandbox. This is important. In each Sandbox Settings Add appropriate User to User Accounts. Now you configure each Sandbox Settings how ever you wish them. If you're licensed, you can have virtually unlimited Sandboxes- active simultaneously without need to si...
