Re: Problem with Chrome

Anything else that may be holding onto Chrome? Maybe RSS Feed, or Plugins updating, or AV?

Slow USB Drive

I have no problems with Sandboxie, and everything works smooth and quick. I have my container folder set at the default C drive location. If I set the container folder on a usb stick everything becomes unworkably slow. Browser takes over a minute just to open. and each tab after that is just as slow...

Re: Problem with Chrome

You can also go into Chrome advanced settings (unsandboxed) and uncheck
"Continue running background apps when Google Chrome is closed"

Yes Alan, I agree and also I apologize. I more meant 'bloat' in keeping with some of the other comments, in that anything over and above sandboxie is considered bloat. Also I will - just for myself - state that I am embarrassed by some of the posts here lately.

All this worry about Sandboxie becoming "Bloatware". In my opinion this is the perfect situation. All of the bloat, (virus, malware, blah blah scanning) is in Free Space. Sandboxie is standalone. Plus Tzuk has brought the sandboxie name recognition to a point where Invincea would be crazy to drop it...

Yes all of that type works as expected here, and I believe with Jeff also. But that is not exactly what we were getting at. If you have a standalone item, such as a zip or a jpg - while sandboxed click save. Choose a folder that is not blocked. Now that file is in the sandbox, in the mirror of that ...

I can duplicate here what you describe. But maybe I was incorrect earlier. Maybe Sandboxie does allow that, because the authorization to save the file to the desktop came from the user, the program in the sandbox couldn't do it.

If your download location in Chrome is other than the desktop, then yes Sandboxie will ask you where you want to save the download. If you choose Desktop, Sandboxie will deny that.

Well technically you should be good with that ini, I think. Maybe Alan or Curt would know better. You never know where a bug might be, so maybe try it with these removed. WriteFilePath=%Desktop%\ WriteFilePath=%My Music%\ ReadFilePath=%Desktop%\ ReadFilePath=%My Music%\ ClosedFilePath should trump t...

Remove explorer.exe from that ProcessGroup and you should be good.

The Read and the Write settings to the Desktop are not needed if you are going to also use the Block Access. But they shouldn't do any harm either.

You have a group set up named InternetAccess ProcessGroup=<InternetAccess>,chrome.exe,dllhost.exe,explorer.exe,iexplore.exe Notice that explorer.exe is part of that group. You have Blocked Access; ClosedFilePath=!<InternetAccess>,InternetAccessDevices ClosedFilePath=%Desktop%\ WriteFilePath=%Desktop...

This is all happening in the same sandbox right? Maybe with multiple sandboxes, the settings are being applied to the wrong one?

I tested those settings in my sandbox, and Sandboxie performed as normal. I was not allowed to save to the desktop. Windows 8

On the Blocked File Access page it states that if there is any other setting in file access that matches, then Blocked File Access will be used, so I don't see the reasoning behind those settings. But to answer your question, no it is not normal, the item should be blocked. I would remove the two us...
