SandboxToys2 for Win7 and Vista (x86 or x64)

OK, I've finally really used SandboxToys under my Win7 x64 system, and I have been very disappointed because it doesn't work well, mainly because Win7 and Vista are now very picky with the file locations and access rights. So, I have decided to write a new version from scratch: SandboxToys2 . Please...

IMPORTANT note on installing SandboxToys under Win7 or Vista

As I've just installed Sandboxie and SandboxToys under Windows 7 for the first time, I've noticed a little problem. The first post of this thread explains that you have to copy SandboxToys.exe to your Sandboxie installation folder and double-click it to complete the installation. Unfortunately, that...

Sorry, ahmahmahm, as I've written above, I visit rarely this forum and I don't receive the email notifications, so I've missed your reply during several months! As far as I know, SandboxToys works fine with the current version of Sandboxie. I've just installed Sandboxie v3.40 and SandboxToys 07.11.0...

v 07.11.04.09

New in v 07.11.04.09: Adapted to the newest version of Sandboxie. A modification was necessary because Control.exe has been renamed to SbieCtrl.exe. Skips now the [UserSettings_*] entry in Sandboxie.ini. Previously, this entry was wrongly considered as a regular sandbox, and appeared (although disab...

SandboxToys v07.11.03.13 released!

New in v07.11.03.13: Since Start.exe doesn't take into account the working directory of the icon anyway, "Create Sandboxed Shortcut" has now a simplified GUI that asks for the target box only via the standard popup menu. The working directory is now always the same as the input (unsandboxed) file, a...

As I said, it is probable that the files are extracted to a temp folder before being scanned, so, yes, I guess they are correctly scanned.

Oops! I've just tested again and... the problem is gone! Firefox doesn't crash any more. Maybe it's something that has changed in v3.01.21, but it works perfectly now! :) Skakau3c, which version are you using? v3.01.21? BTW, I have also checked the problem with the start menu of Sandboxie not showin...

BTW, I have a suggestion. Is it possible to add an option in Sandboxie's INI file to allow drag and drop? If it's sufficient to avoid the crash, I will be totally happy. I know that it's probably something potentially dangerous for the security, but if the user has to change the option manually in t...

I don't have the same problem. If I try to drag something out of a sandboxed window over an unsandboxed window or the desktop, the mouse pointer changes to a "prohibited" icon, and nothing happens. IMO, that's perfectly normal. The problem occurs when I drag something from an unsandboxed window to a...

Seems WinRAR has an option to scan for viruses. It's obviously only a trick, as it's not normally the job of an archiver. IMO, it saves the files in a temp folder, and launches the virus scanner on that files. So, if WinRAR is sandboxed when it opens the archive, the files will be saved in the temp ...

You should not need to extract any file to scan an archive. Just scan the archive file itself. Maybe avast reports 3 files as it has scanned the archive itself and the two files in the archive. Not sure it extracts them, but as I said above, it should not. I'm not specialist of the archivers. Person...

I don't know what you did exactly, but I have some remarks. 1. A good antivirus should not need to extract the files from the archives to test them. 2. If the antivirus wants to extract the files, it should not use an external program such as winrar. 3. SandboxToys is distributed in a ZIP archive, n...

It has a drwaback, though. I've noticed that when you open a folder in a sandbox, explorer.exe is copied in the sandbox! I can't figure out why Windows opens explorer in write mode to launch it! Peculiar, but I couldn't reproduce this. Maybe it's only the way SandboxToys opens the folder sandboxed ...

SandboxToys version 07.09.24.16

New in SandboxToys version 07.09.24.16: Added "Add or Remove Programs" control panel in the main menu. (See the SandboxToys Manual in this thread.) Added the new "__ask__" option in the shortcut creator dialog. (Requires Sandboxie v3.01.21 or greater.) The boxes are now sorted in alphabetical order ...

Thanks, but my addon doesn't help to protect your computer. It's the job of Sandboxie. SandboxToys helps to launch sandboxed programs and to maintain your sandboxes. Nothing else.
