If the given drive for the sanbox container does not exists anymore, the start of a sandboxed program will lead to a freezed 'Sandboxie Control' window.
You are further not able to terminate the started sandboxed program with "Terminate Program".

Another reason for yy=22 is: the drive, in which the sandboxes container will be created, is full.

Does Sandboxie protects against file or data transfers to the real HDD that could take place via mailslots, anonymous/named pipes, or Windows Sockets?

Firefox and VLC, both 'Forced Program', are running in a (the same) sandbox. Files/Folder that are not open by other applications should be deleted, even if there are some that are in access.
Otherwise the option "Automatically delete contents of sandbox" looses its security function.
