I've tried deleting the dsound.dll under a Sandbox while having a look inside of what is going on inside the sandbox. The file remains in the sandbox, only it's file size jumps to 0. This causes a different error when starting a Diablo 2 instance, but the problem still remains. I don't get why a fil...

I've come to avoid this issue by not using Sandboxie for the Main Diablo2 instance, with dsound.dll in the folder. The other sub-instances do not need to have any sound, so I'm using the -ns parameter. But since the dsound.dll file is still in the game folder, it still causes the instances to crash ...

I am afraid I was not able to reproduce this crash this time. But I did change something in version 3.45.15, that might be related to this. Please try this new version. I've tried v3.45.15, this time I'm getting another different error. Debug log: Microsoft (R) Windows Debugger Version 6.11.0001.40...

I agree, it's probably not related to file or registry. If you want to generate a new debug log with version 3.45.14, I can take a look, if it is the same problem that I experienced with my botched installation of ALchemy, that would mean that I can still try to investigate the problem on my end. H...

Please try version 3.45.14 when you get a chance. I've tried the new release with ALchemy, unfortunately I still receive an appcrash under Win7 Ultimate 64-bit If I only knew what's missing... I don't think it's file/registry related, since the sandboxes have access... it's probably something diffe...

Well, if you're going to respond to my suggestions with rolling your eyes, then I guess I won't suggest anything else. Now back on topic, although I don't have the sound hardware, I was able to extract some DLL files from the Creative ALchemy set up package and reproduce the same error you reported...

I did recently add a feature to limit the maximum number of processes in a sandbox, so one would not have to restart their computer if some programs spawns itself endlessly as a way to bring the computer down. So in that sense, limiting CPU use is not very different from limiting the number of proc...

There are freeware/shareware CPU limit programs for Windows, I think you should get one of those. I've already tried dozens of them of course 8) They all miss the point - applications become unstable or get limited by a timer, which is not what the tool's purpose should be at all. There is a tool t...

Sandboxie issue with Games on Win7 using Creative ALchemy
I am using a Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic PCI Soundcard with a special software suite for it. Unfortunately a Creative Soundcard is required in order to use the Creative ALchemy software... I got the soundcard for 31€ on eBay, the features allow a great control over the sound. The only drawback is are ...

Sandboxie issue with Games on Win7 using Creative ALchemy
Of course! I have been using it all the time with Sandboxie without dsound.dll from Creative ALchemy, it worked well all the time.
There are some random crashes when playing online, but that is simply the fault of Blizzard's poor work of programming...

Sandboxie issue with Games on Win7 using Creative ALchemy
First of all, thank's for the effort! I went back to my WinXP Pro 32-bit mod, I'm getting a clearer picture there, since it's not just 'freezing' - it's an ordinary Access violation - code c0000005 now, as usual. I ran the game under the debugger in a Sandbox, here is it's output: CommandLine: "E:\D...

Sandboxie's potential
Software should be abundant in it's arsenal of functionality and it's efficiency, at the same time though it has to be very rational in its size and hardware requirements, this is a battlecry to 95% of all the junk that's out there. However Sandboxie is taking place among the best of the 5% that mak...
