Re: Sandboxie and SpyShelter

Did something change with one of the programs recently? A year ago I was running Sandboxie 3.76 and Spyshelter on a Windows 7 machine and didn't notice any problems. I'm thinking about setting up Sandboxie and Spyshelter on an XP machine now.

I also cannot get CrystalDiskInfo to work in a sandbox. I tried to enable some of the settings under "Low Level Access" and "Hardware Access" and CrystalDiskInfo still said "Disk not found".

Program is run in DefaultBox even tho I specified diff box

Running Sandboxie 3.76 on Windows 7 64-bit. I have 3 sandboxes - DefaultBox, SecureBox, and TestingBox. This problem has happened a few times today. From Sandboxie Control I right click on my TestingBox and tell it to run a sandboxed Explorer, but the Explorer gets run in DefaultBox instead of Testi...

BTW, if you were trying to launch these things from an UNsandboxed Explorer (I don't think you are), this may be of interest: Run Sandboxed + SRP doesn't work? (That's fixed for now in the latest 4.01 beta version.) Of course the "Basic User" SRP level doesn't function in Windows 7 (which is more w...

Software Restriction Policies - path weirdness

I have the latest version of Sandboxie and created a sandbox called "TestingBox" that I will use for installing and evaluating software. Now I am trying to set up Software Restriction Policies in Windows 7 (64 bit) to allow my limited user to run only programs in the Program Files and Windows direct...

What happens on reactivation but internet is down?

I have Sandboxie set up to silently reactivate. But I'm curious what would happen if Sandboxie attempts to reactivate, and my internet happens to be down. Would Sandboxie stop working - would it kill all running processes in all sandboxes?

What if you set permissions on the folder above the sandboxes? Your sandboxes should be within a C:\Sandbox\user folder, so you can try to set permission on that folder. If you think that could be useful, consider that you may also need to strip the "Bypass traverse checking" privilege from user ac...

OK I found out why SbieCtrl.exe is crashing under my limited-user account. It's because in my Administrator account, I had gone into the Sandbox Settings for both of the sandboxes (DefaultBox and the second one I created) and added the Administrator user to the "User Accounts" section for each one. ...

SbieCtrl.exe consistent crash under limited user

I am using the latest version of Sandboxie under Windows 7 64-bit. Things were working fine earlier tonight in both my Administrator and limited-user accounts. But then I logged into my Administrator account to make some changes. Now every time I try to run the Sandboxie Control from my limited-user...

Thanks for pointing out this thread, Guest10. There was a time, years ago, when the "Sandbox" folder was located at: %AppData%\Sandbox But it sometimes led to some very long paths to files in the sandbox, especially on XP: Example: C:\Documents and Settings\Paul\Application Data\Sandbox\DefaultBox\u...

Permissions on the C:\Sandbox\<username> folders

I have 2 accounts on my Windows 7 machine: an Administrator and a limited user. I am logged into my limited user right now, and I can actually look at the files/directories contained under C:\Sandbox\Administrator. Looking at the C:\Sandbox\Administrator directory, I can see that the permissions are...

AVG does not detect virus downloaded in sandbox

When I use an unsandboxed Firefox to download the EICAR test file (http://www.eicar.org/85-0-Download.html), my AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 2013 (running on Windows 7 64-bit) pops up a box saying it has detected a virus. But then when I use a sandboxed Firefox to download the EICAR test file, I don'...

If you have created another profile for sandboxed Firefox instances, how do you tell Sandboxie to use that? I mean when you click on Sandbox > DefaultBox > Run sandboxed > Run Web Browser.

Yellow border around all sandboxed windows?

I have "Display a border around the window" checked and "Display the border only when the mouse is in the window title" unchecked. That puts a yellow border only around the active window. Is it possible to add a feature to make it put the yellow border around all sandboxed windows that are visible o...

I thought that's what he meant when he said "These appear to work ok for programs that are installed normally but run inside the sandbox."? Hmm, I'm not sure I would set Firefox to be a forced program if I could, because there might be times I'd want to run it outside the sandbox to make settings ch...
