Re: Security Now podcast unintentionally misleading listener

Listening this morning to Security Now 552, a small portion of a rather long podcast addressed Virtual Machine stuff as THE ONLY way to combat a crypto-ransome disease that is apparently common in the wild now, using ads on web-pages for the infection vector. Amongst the VM names considered was Sand...

Re: in which foulder should i recover files i want to keep?

I agree almost totally with Bo on this one. 'Desktop'...avoids later confusion. HOWEVER, I 'Quick Recover' any file I have downloaded, be it Security Now Podcast, Windows Weekly Podcast, OR downloaded MP4 files from YouTube! *THEN*, when they are on the Desktop, AT LEAST the first time I open the fi...

Re: Should I prefer 32bit or 64bit applications?

In addition, OPERA has a Windows version, OPERA 37.0 / 64 bit that I am using WITH 5.10--64 bit SANDBOXIE, very successfully.......on this 64 bit WIN7 computer. The Opera Blog talked about some problem with '37-64bit', but I sure haven't seen or felt it...

Re: Security Now podcast unintentionally misleading listener

Concur. Good idea to send 'em info. It alway amazes me how few people know of Sandboxie...or even what 'virtual machine' means. I think the 'Man on the Street' culture has been so powerful in promoting REACTIONARY A/V stuff, he cannot get past it. My nephew, who picks up his share of Vicious-Ware, c...

Re: We Do Need No [bleep] Updates

Regards getting 'some' updates. So I was told when i hatched the plot [either you or Bo, I think], but so far I've felt nothing, nada, zip...so I'm just humming along, Craig.

We Do Need No [bleep] Updates

Some time ago I took the plunge, installed a spare Hard Drive, installed all my usual software, INCLUDING SANDBOXIE 5.06 {recently updated to 5.10}. My Browser of Choice is OPERA 37, 64-bit. I have not downloaded a single MicroSoft update, relying 100% on Sandboxie for my security; everything works ...

Re: Security Now podcast unintentionally misleading listener

I have been listening/watching Steve for a number of years. As an old Electronics Guy, dipped into the world of computering, I have learned one helluva lot from Steve. Further, I've run 'paid for' Sandboxie since the day I heard Steve interview Ronen on how S/B got created, etc. I've done a lot of t...

Re: OPERA 37 [64 bit] problem

I guess Lesson Two is to keep SB up to date, regardless of how pointless the 'latest and greatest' appears to be to ME....

Yes...indeed.... Good week-end to you, Bo

Re: OPERA 37 [64 bit] problem

Just had a thought. I am using SB 5.06. According to the changelogs it looks to me like 5.08 and 5.10 address WIN-10 issues, so I didn't go up to them! {I'll switch to carrier pidgeons before I'll run WIN-Ten again!!!!} But...................... maybe something THERE is my issue ?? SB 5.06 and OP 35...

Re: OPERA 37 [64 bit] problem

Ummmm... If you are running 32 bit I think you will need this, instead: https://net.geo.opera.com/opera/developer?utm_medium=sm&utm_source=desktop_blog&utm_campaign=developer I do have all three Bookmark files from my App Data folder set up for Direct Access... to keep bookmarks; but I don't see how...

Re: OPERA 37 [64 bit] problem

Lotta trouble to go to, Bo.... but if you are curious, I can really understand that! Running WIN7...64 bit. Re: OPERA 37 [64 bit] problem

Thanks, but I did it the 'right way'. Even totally uninstalled OP 35 before installing 37 so there could be no confusion regarding WHICH .exe got used. I seem to recall that earlier versions of Opera could be installed at the same time, but now that I think for a minute I think that way back in the ...
