@ Tzuk, can you explain to me if this was quite a serious security hole? I mean the POC itself didn´t seem to be that scary.Version 3.25.01 should fix this security hole.

Well I can't explain it cause it doesn't exist. However, I guess just a box you plug in and it allows you control over processes (using an software interface of course) no different then a software hips, however, since it is hardware, it wouldn't be prone to being shutdown by malware as a software ...

Well to an extent I guess, however, for me, a HIPS is something that offers you control over processes, nothing else. Example, SSM and Pro Security... I agree, but at the end of the day SBIE is also HIPS, but we call it a sandbox because otherwise it becomes confusing. Hmm, true, I prefer virtualiz...

Then maybe you could switch to Vista and leave UAC on? Well no, because this is no solution to the problem, what I meant is that XP/Vista should have worked exactly like how TS described in post #3, but it doesn´t. Apparently it only works like this when sandboxing apps. But like I said in the othe...

Are you saying you installed a program sandboxed and the installation screwed up, and now you want to restore the registry? It´s simple, some app (unsandboxed) is not working OK anymore after I upgraded it, and reinstalling the old version didn´t help either, it keeps crashing. So I thought, perhap...

Perhaps it´s just me, but it´s still very unclear what you want to achieve with this tool. It's just a vague idea. I've read that SBIE has restrictions when loading system drivers, and I was wondering if this could be 'solved' by loading these drivers in other ways. If you want sandboxed apps...

I must say that it sounds interesting, this is actually the way I would like to see Windows work, so basically, if apps don´t require admin rights, you can still install them (sandboxed), and as soon as they need (or want) to run as admin, UAC will pop-up, and then you can decide for yourself if it ...

The answer is still no -- I'm not interested to play security researcher with this rootkit. If you keep asking because you think one of these days I'm going to change my mind, then you should know that I will not. Tzuk, I said: "if you have the time", so I take this as a: "no I don´t have time for ...

Quick question about SBIE regkeys
Hi,
I screwed some installation up, and now I want to restore the registry. But a couple of days ago I have also installed a new version of SBIE, so will this cause any problems? Which regkeys does SBIE use? TIA

Yeah, but thats the problem, Sandboxie does strip away some rights from sandboxed programs. However, he has to leave many more rights available to sandboxed programs, or else they wouldn't even run correctly sandboxed.... Yes correct, but the most important rights are/should be stripped away, to pr...

Ok then fine, he could incorporate it as long as it is something easily enabled or disabled. Well, I don´t see it happening, and I guess it´s not a real big problem. Exactly, same here, to me something like SSM is a HIPS, not something like (old) Comodo FW... No, what I meant was that in fact, beha...
