Re: An unjust criticism of Sandboxie
its another one of those threads! For someone with years of experience using sandboxie Wittman doesn't know SBIE limitation well enough, making claims of SBIE being impregnable, suggesting not updating MS, nor having an AV(which even Tzuk advice one should have), etc... if not for such cl...

Re: An unjust criticism of Sandboxie
@ Curt and all readers In 10 years of Sandboxie, I have never seen a bad word aimed at the program. Nothing but compliments. My own case is also that I have never had a serious infection over that period. Any slight infections that have occurred are almost certain to have been the result of occasion...

Re: An unjust criticism of Sandboxie
I found the original post. It looks like some Scottish guy that just wants to pick a fight. My heritage is Scottish, so I know how it is. But my ancestors had to leave over 200 years ago because the food over there is just terrible. Curt, I am amazed how you traced the original post. Anyw...

Re: An unjust criticism of Sandboxie
There are a bunch of Sandboxie videos on youtube. Here's the one on Cryptolocker. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aMtyGNviiRY Does this look like "the claim of confining threats to the sandbox environment and restricting everything to a virtual environment is a load of rubbish."? Curt, your every w...

Sandboxie Slogan
You could call this a positive review. It has been pointed out quite rightly so by a Forum member - not here - that the Sandboxie slogan of Trust No Program is ridiculous, since in explicit terms it must also include Sandboxie. Not a logical choice at all. I would recommend that this slogan be revis...

An unjust criticism of Sandboxie
As a 10 year veteran and super devotee of Sandboxie, I was shocked to read a post written by a 10,000 poster who has adopted the mantle of Super Security Genius Extraordinaire on a Forum I am a member of. It wrecks everything which I believe and the fundamental principles that Sandboxie stands for. ...

Re: Google Chrome Updating
@ Curt As an after thought from reading this very interesting and informative thread, I would ask :- Question ? So, Sandboxie "makes use of" certain Windows security aspects. Is this "make use of" simply an internal program feature or does Sandboxie "look" for these relationships at user logon and e...

Browser Homepage
Will Sandboxie stop attempts to hijack the browser Homepage ?
I have Chrome as my default browser and Firefox as standby. I also have IE which I do not use, but several programs I have protect the IE Homepage from being hijacked.

Re: Google Chrome Updating
Actually, I was not making an analogy. I was trying to point out that we are arguing over semantics. "rely" according to dictionary.com means "to depend on". That definition is highly subjective. All I am saying is that Sandboxie has many safeguards that have nothing to do with built-in Windows sec...

Re: Google Chrome Updating
Sandboxie does not "rely" on Windows security. It "uses" many features of Windows security as part of its defenses. I'd say "uses" IS "relies" on. :) Being able to use something is, in fact, relying on it... Would you say a Boeing 747 uses, relies on, or requires all 4 engines? It can fly on 1 engi...

Re: Google Chrome Updating
@ Dr. Larry Peprer Another masterpiece of logic and expertise eh ? I am not in favor of systems piggy-backing on others. It makes reliance become dependent on the weakest link. For Sandboxie to use = to rely on Windows somewhat dicey security measures is distressing news after many years of regardin...

Re: Google Chrome Updating
Thanks for that post Curt. I would like to emphasize that Sandboxie is not a Hospital dealing with patients injured by a variety of external incidents. Sandboxie is purely an online defense against attack by Internet transmitted threats whilst on duty, it does not provide bandages for wounds already...

Re: Google Chrome Updating
Oh dear Buster, I have read enough about your Blaster worm to know that quoting that as an example of Sandboxie fallibility is ridiculus. You are stating an instance originating in 2003 concerning malpractice with MS Windows updates. Sandboxie is an Internet protection not protection against MS/Wind...

Re: Google Chrome Updating
I meant the computer will be vulnerable even if you are using Sandboxie if there is a vulnerability in the OS. That means that your computer may be compromised independently if you are using Sandboxie or not. If the OS is not connected to the Internet by a browser, how can an Internet threat possib...

Re: Google Chrome Updating
Sandboxie does not protect from Windows security holes. Example: Blaster worm would have infected your computer even if you were using Sandboxie. Buster, intrigued, I would like to ask you direct how your worm can infect the PC when using Sandboxie. As i see it, Sandboxie introduces a one way valve...
