Sandboxie & Avira Pro

Post by catspyjamas » Wed May 04, 2016 4:42 am

Hi forum. I've just bought a new laptop which has Windows 10 64bit on it. Before I set it up I want to check if anyone has used sandboxie with Avira Pro, as that is the AV I'm considering putting on it. I have seen the forum post which lists AVs which play nicely with sandboxie and ones that don't, and Avira is listed as being OK but it was the free version tested. Anyone used the pro version? Any issues? Thanks in advance.

We of course only test free or trial versions. The official recommendation from Invincea & Sandboxie Holdings is Windows Defender.

Sandboxie is your primary defense...then whatever else as a secondary layer to "see" what may be in your sandbox. A/V, etc uses virus signatures, (that must be updated) heuristics, etc . They also can't be overly aggressive, otherwise using them would cause a severe performance hit. If you want security, focus on doing anything online under the supervision of SBIE.
