Windows Mail: Needs full access mailbox files (RESOLVED)

Post by Unknown_User_701 » Sun Aug 19, 2007 6:36 pm

Tzuk...With the latest update I can now send/receive email in Windows Mail just fine. However, I also would like to be able to give Windows Mail full access to mailbox files (like is optional for outlook and outlook express).

Is there a way to change the ini file to give Windows Mail full access?

Have you tried telling Sandboxie to allow Outlook full access, and then change the Ini to say WinMail.exe instead of Msimn.exe, in the appropriate OpenFilePath statements?

That sounds like a great idea. No, I have not yet tried that. I am not a computer expert like manyothers in the forum. So I tend not to mess with the settings of the program.

I will try and get back to you. Thanks.

SnDPhoenix...have you tried this solution just yet? I am hesitant to make changes to the ini file unless I can see the exact entry from someone that knows what they are doing.

Yes, i just tried this solution, and unfortunately, no, it didnt work. :?
But the good news, is because of the good guy i am, i went ahead and decided to try and figure out the correct lines, and i figured it out! :)
Just add these lines into your ini file:

Code: Select all

OpenFilePath=WinMail.exe,%UserProfile%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail
OpenFilePath=WinMail.exe,*.eml
OpenKeyPath=WinMail.exe,HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail
That should allow you full access just fine. :wink:

Yes, this works. Thank you very much!

I am also having ONE MORE problem with Windows Mail. I will post in a new thread.

PS...When I download a new version of Sanboxie and install over the old, will I need to edit the ini file with the entires for Windows Mail or will they stay?

No you dont need to readd them, you can install a new version as many times as you want and it will still retain all your settings in the ini file. :wink:
