Thank you for the work that you did to fix the Flash crash bug in Chrome and Firefox caused by a Windows update this week. Nice job!

I like how, after getting the reply "BSOD is not caused by this error. IT can be caused by the Windows update affecting other things on your machine. Remember, It's a WINDOWS UPDATE, thus think about that. It's not a SBIE update" to my BSOD report, the latest beta release notes read "This also fixes BSOD when using Flash in Firefox".

In the future, please don't be so fast to assume your users have no clue what they are talking about.

Excellent work on the fast update, though! Great work.

Thanks for the new SBIE version 5.05.2. Error messages and BSOD are now things of the past. :D

Users running Windows 10 may still see some "random" Chrome crashing. This is not related to any KB. It's something we have been looking at. Thus far, we cannot reproduce it accurately. However, if you are getting random Chrome crashing, please post information on hardware you are running and if possible, please run this PowerShell command and create a txt file for programs instalalled so we can take a look.

Powershell command (run as admin)

Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_Product | Select-Object -Property Name > C:\Software\PCapps.txt

(for PCapps.txt, you can name it whatever you like as long as it ends in .txt

>>The Current v5.04.2 Beta addresses this issue<<

I see you are hard at work on this problem (http://forums.sandboxie.com/phpBB3/view ... 17&t=21929), but I don't know where to download, nor how to install, a SandBoxie Beta.

>>Go to Add-Ons in Firefox, Select the FLASH plug in and uncheck the "Protected" mode box.<<

Also don't know how safe this option is, given Flash's poor reputation...

Please advise. -- jclarkw

When launching the Chrome installer inside of Sandboxie, it fails with "Unknown Installer Error". Admin privileges. Has done this since the Windows Update. I've tried the standalone and the online installer. When I tried to use Ninite to perform the install it gave this error:
"The service did not start due to a logon failure. [0x8007042d]; ; 340"

This is with the 5.0.5.2 beta on Windows 7 x64.

Link to the forum topic here detailing the fix http://forums.sandboxie.com/phpBB3/view ... 54&t=21855
Direct link to the combo installer here: http://www.sandboxie.com/SandboxieInstall-505-2.exe

You just run the installer and have it over write your current installation. That's it.

Chrome should *Not* be installed directly in a SB. Install it on your host, then run it as sandboxed.

I don't think the Chrome installer has ever run inside Sbie.

I know I disabled protected mode ages ago, but I got a BSOD and on checking found that it was enabled again. PITA Adobe!

I still need it now and again, but it is set to activate on demand.

We haven't seen anymore issues with BSOD and our testing was done with protected mode on with Beta v5.05.2. Make sure the newest SBIE beta is installed.

My bad. Should have been 5.05.2 not 5.04.2. Apologies.

Hi Curt. I never have installed Chrome in my real system. But I have tested Chrome a few times by installing it sandboxed. The installer does run sandboxed and the installation goes thru just fine, at least for me it does. To verify nothing has changed in that regard, a few minutes ago I ran the Chrome web installer and all went well. But I agree with Craig, I think installing Chrome for keeps in a sandbox is a bad idea and doing so will certainly pop up many errors after a few days or so. I tested in W7 32 bits.
