different default programs per sandbox

Post by ahut10 » Tue Aug 23, 2016 2:33 am

my question is can i have a different default program inside of a sandbox from whats outside of the sandbox

for example;
  • Acrobat reader sandboxed into my email client (outlook) / web browser to protect me from bad pdfs.
  • ecopy Pdf pro office 6.2 by Nuance Communications outside of the sandbox which i need for work and isn't currently sandboxie compatible / supported

thank you in advanced

You can force any program (in the paid version of SBIE) to automatically open in a SB when run.

However, Sandboxie opens the default program depending on what you have set as the default program in Windows (such as a PDF reader.)

That's handled by Windows, not SBIE.

Is that something that could potentially be done within sandboxie in a future version?

No. Windows still runs default programs. Sandboxie is simply a Folder. A container. A Sandbox. Setting default programs are handled by the OS.

You might want to look at a VM.

craig i've fixed it and got it working,

so so so good :)

from the sandbox i went
  1. right click on sandbox
  2. run from start menu
  3. programs/system tools/control panel
  4. launch the default programs tool
  5. change adobe to be default
then to test i opened two explorers, one in sandbox and one outside of sandbox.
  • in the sandbox adobe acrobat reader launches when i click on a pdf
  • outside of the sandbox ecopy pdf pro launches when i click on pdf
so great made my day, this should work / launch pdfs from acrobat reader from email client as well, however haven't tested just yet.
i'll give it a go and give you feed back.

P.S. is there a way to make this particular registry change stay even after i delete content of the sandbox.

thank you in advanced.
