A more extensive installation routine?

Post by thewul » Wed Dec 19, 2012 1:28 am

Would it not be an idea to make the setup/install routine a little bit more extensive?

With this I mean that instead of setting the program configuration afterwards, a number of the settings are done during setup.

For instance
- on which drive to store the \Sandbox folder (currently defaulted at C:\, but users then to browse to another drive)
- which folders and filetypes to be recovered immediatey
- which folders to be directly accessible (full file access)

A new option would also be that Sandbox contents can (optionally) be deleted at startup.
(with me, right now, I have created following a file named: DeleteSandBox.bat
DeleteSandBox.bat
RMDIR "G:\Sandbox\Marcel\DefaultBox" /s /q

and added a link to this file in the startup menu
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

but this cud be an option in future release)

- create a backup of the .ini-file (sandbox-ini.bck or something like that)
in case of a totally fresh install, users to 'import' the backup and they donot need to worry.
