Configuration sandboxie with a list of software to run

Post by IronMan » Sat May 10, 2008 8:58 pm

Hi folks. Maybe this feature has been suggested before already. It probably has. I'm just getting to learn how to use sandboxie, and it is a great software. After checking out its functions, I was just seeing if sandboxie has a list box where we can add an application into this list....so that when we fire up sandboxie, we can open the list and then just use the mouse to choose which application we want to run within sandboxie. In other words, have an entry list inside sandboxie to run a software or softwares that we add to the list.

Is such a feature already in sandboxie? Otherwise, this would be a nice feature to have.

For example, if we fire up the sandboxie control, it would be nice to add firefox web browser into a sandbox list, so that in future usages of a sandbox, we can just click on 'firefox' within this sandbox to open the firefox browser. And then do the same thing for an email reader, etc.

In this way, we can just keep going back to the same application within the sandboxie control to run an application if we need to. This doesn't mean that we always run firefox etc inside sandboxie.....but just gives a convenient way to run firefox (or some other software) inside sandboxie if we need to.

At the moment, it is still very nice how I can still use the Sandboxie control 'shell integration > add icons' feature to set up my own directory of software shortcuts to run inside sandboxie. So that's quite nice already.

Well no there isn't a list like that anywhere in Sandboxie for now. However there are some alternatives, like setting your browser as a force process, this way when you launch it is is automatically sandboxed, or maybe try using the Sandboxie Startmenu accessible by right-clicking on the sandbox in Sandboxie Control, from there, in the Sandboxie start menu, you can select any program that is installed on your pc, thats probably the closest you'll get to a list for now.

Also don't forget about the Sandboxie icons so you can just create an icon for your browser, then double click that shortcut instead the next time you want that browser sandboxed, but I see you already found out about the sandboxie icons, so I don't need to explain it now.
