No favourites in IE[#] :=(

Post by Ninho » Tue Aug 21, 2007 11:44 am

Oooops, something is going wrong after I updated to the new SB 3.0.17 !

Most conspicuous symptom : I have no favourites in sandboxed IE, zero, zilch, none ! Clicking upon the Favorites menu of IE# only shows the items : Add to favorites... & Organize favorites... :-(

I have a huge buch of favourites accessible in the regular IE, so that a guess is IE# isn't finding or accessing the right favorites folder and/or the whole user profile !

I never saw that error with earlier version, everything was running perfect with my previous SB 2.42.

Perhaps it was not so stupid of me to worry about installing v3 over the old version, after all ?

Please help !

OS : Win 2000 SP4

just in case it hints : I found my Sandboxie.ini - in F:\WINNT which is my %windir% and that is dated : january 2006. Meaning the ini was unmodified by yesterday's update.

Regards,

Stranger and stranger !

I closed everything sandboxed, reopened IE[#] and this time, it has recovered the Favorites apparently by itself ! ?

Hope it is now configured properly, we'll see...

Another strange thing : files with one-letter names keep appearing in the %windir%, which have the following contents :

[MISCELLANEOUS]
ACTION=0
DECOTIME=0
OFFREASON=0

Those files could be temporaries, but they do not disappear until I delete them manually. Are they related to Sandboxie ?

The one-letter files you describe are not related to Sandboxie. So the Favorites thing worked out, you say? If not, try using the Configuration menu in Sandboxie Control, Sandbox Settings, File Copy Options, to allow Internet Explorer full access to the favorites. Maybe it will make a difference.

Hey tzuk, i just noticed a small typo, if you go to set file copy options, look where it says, "Allow Internet Explorer full access to the favorites folder" and you'll see that there is no space between Explorer and full, i know it's no big deal, just thought i would point it out anyways.

Yes, I never knew why it wasn't working previously.

Those were not all set correctly. Done!

The only minor thing that could still be commented upon is, when IE favourites are added while in SB and recovered to the 'real' system, their ordering is not recovered. I guess it is by design, and not important anyway.

Thanks ! You may move this topic to the "resolved" section as far as I'm concerned...
