Sandboxie, Chrome and 1Password [SOLVED]

Post by itayo » Wed Sep 13, 2017 5:15 am

I have been having problem while working with Chrome (in Sandboxie) and the 1Password extension.
While Chrome is working fine in Sandboxie, the 1Password extension doesn't seem to work and is "grayed out".
I saw some threads about 1Password and Firefox but not about Chrome.
Since I prefer not to save my passwords in Chrome this has become an issue.
I tried to reinstall the 1P extension while Chrome is "sandboxed", but it didn't work.
Any ideas?

Hello itayo,

Please provide the following information so that we can test this:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=19746

Also, have you tried installing the add-on outside Sandboxie, deleting the contents of your Sandbox (or creating a new Sandbox) and re-trying using 1Password in Chrome?

If the problem persists, please provide the results of your resource access monitor:

Hi,
Sorry for the delay in response.
For some time, I wasn't sure if the problem was related to 1Password or to Sandboxie.
But now I am sure the issue is with Sandboxie.
when running it with Sandboxie off (and the browser "force" control is off) - everything works. when I start Sandboxie - 1P's icon is greyed out and it doesn't work. perhaps it elates to the fact that it uses secure-desktop?

In any case,
my windows version number is: windows 10 version 1703 build 15063.674
Sandboxie version is 5.2 64bit
1Password version: 4.6.2.626 and the Chrome plug in: 4.6.12.90
I am using Norton Security : 22.11.0.41

There are no error messages that I get while trying to operate 1P.
Besides unable to work in Chrome. The 1P software works great (outside the sandbox).
I have also tried uninstalling, reinstalling etc and nothing worked.

Here is the resource manager log when trying to enter a password using 1P (pressing Ctrl+\)

Re: Sandboxie, Chrome and 1Password

Post by Barb@Invincea » Wed Oct 25, 2017 12:18 pm

Hello itayo,

I downloaded 1Password, the latest version is 6.7.457, created and account and logged in.
I added the Chrome plugin and was able to repro the problem usign the latest SBIE beta 5.21.7 - Release Candidate

Heres'a workaround:
Right- click on your Sandbox --> Sandbox Settings--> Resource Access--> File Access --> Full Access
Hit "Add" and paste the following:
*\device\namedpipe\1password*
Apply and Okay your way out.
Configure --> Reload Configuration
Delete the contents of your Sandbox

After that, launch 1password on your host and then launch Chrome inside your modified Sandbox.
I tested it with existing accounts, as well as creating a new entry from a Sandboxed browser and did not find any issues.

Regards,
Barb.-
