I had access to a 64bit system

Yes, that's the solution. Fixed.

So (sorry if I am being a bit thick here, and noticing that you have also removed the edit in the first post stating that 64-bit is not supported) does that mean that it should now run under 64-bit? With a new download, all I get now is a message saying that 64-bit is not supported. :(

I've uploaded an intermediate version (still v1.7) with the message you noticed.

The next version will start on 64bit, even if there is still the message "Note: Support for 64bit operating systems is limited" on first start (if there is no configuration file).
v1.8 is still in development, but you can download a beta for 64bit.

The current beta adds a new feature: file hash verification.

If enabled (default setting) it stores a file hash and verifies it the next time the file is started. If the verification fails SO shows a dialog like this

Image

Added/New settings:

Code: Select all

[Settings]
; Use session cache for 5 signed and packed/crypted files. "y" to check from
; time to time only, therefore faster. "n" to check a file every time
; for signature and/or packer/crypter, therefore more secure
UseSessionCache=y
; Store (%APPDATA%\SBObserver\Hashes.db) and verify file hash (SHA1)
CheckFileHash=y

I can't download the file, either.
Do the various Download links need to be refreshed?

You're right. The downloaded file is the current version (the previous beta).

v1.8

- No program start on 64bit operating systems (fixed). Note: Support for 64bit operating systems is limited
- Added option to enable/disabled session cache (introduced in v1.7)
- Added file verification based on previously saved hash

Is there somewhere some basic information, how to use the program? Do I run it within or outside of a Sandbox? Does it need administrator rights or does run it within a user account? I have only downloaded it so far.

Thanks!

Michael

After downloading run it outside of a sandbox. In normal cases there is nothing more to do. If you would like to change the default settings - like disabling autostart with Windows - do it by opening the appropriate menu in its tray icon (right click on the SO tray icon).
