None of my programs launch sandboxed [SOLVED]

Hi

Is there something wrong with the latest version of Sandboxie (5.12)? After the update none of my programs launch sandboxed, no matter what sandbox I try (4 custom sandboxes plus the default one). So far I've tried Firefox (32 and 64 bit), Windows Explorer, KeePass... The behaviour is always the same, the corresponding processes show up in the Sandboxie control center and in the Task Manager but the Window of the started program just does not appear. All of the tried programs work perfectly if run outside the sandbox. My system is Windows 10 64 bit. I've already deleted the content of all sandboxes to no avail. I've also reinstalled the update (of Sandboxie) and restarted my PC several times but even that does not resolve the issue.

Any help would he highly appreciated.

Nothing that would stop your programs from loading, unless you're running something that is incompatible with SBIE and Win10?
What version of SBIE were you using before?
Are you running any 3rd party security programs (antivirus, antimalware, etc) if so, what?

Did you try creating a new SB without your "custom" settings??

No need to look anywhere else. I installed 5.13 beta and everything is back to normal. To make sure I downgraded back to 5.12 and the issue immediately reappeared. Did another upgrade to 5.13 beta and everything works again. To me that's enough proof that the reason must lie within version 5.12. It worked with the preceding stable version, it works with the latest beta but it does definitely not work (on my system) with version 5.12.

So..... while I'm glad it works, nothing in 5.11.11 or 5.12 or 5.13 would have caused what you have described.
This is why we are asking for the information.
Things in a beta release may not stay and they can/will change.

You're the first to report that "nothing is working in the sandbox" which simply not the case.

As for 5.12, we've identified [2] issues
1. a copy paste issue (that goes back to 5.11.8 ) has to do with Excel code and the way Excel handles copy and paste as it relates to the SB, etc. [Fix in next beta]
2. AWM program -fix for AWM that already in 5.13.1 beta (may "fix" or break other stuff, we can't say 100% one way or another). [Fix in beta 5.13.1]

Nothing in any of those versions would cause what you are seeing unless it was something incompatible.
Which, not knowing what you are running, deepens the mystery and makes it a 1 off issue for your situation without further info.

What do I run? GData Internet Security, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Home (Premium), Actual Window Menu and a few other programs like Clipboard Help&Spell... But all those programs where also running before the upgrade to 5.12 and had never caused issues.

I remember a while back and for a long time GData had a feature called Active "something" Control, this feature which I think worked sort of like a behavior blocker did conflict with Sandboxie. GData appeared in the Known conflicts Sandboxie webpage until recently when this webpage was updated. Even after the name Active control was done away with, I remember a few users reporting issues that were caused by conflicts with the behavior blocker.

So, maybe the recent update in Sandboxie or an update in GData is bringing the old conflict back. I suggest for testing, disable the behavior blocker in GData. After rebooting, run programs in the sandbox. If you can, then you know that's were your issue is coming from.

3rd Party security programs have a long long history of working, then not working, then working again. We always recommend those be disabled or removed. Their update could have broken something, or something we did to fix a program we support many have other ramifications. The only 3rd party program recommend is Windows Defender.

As for AWM, that program and programs like it have long history of problems dating back to before 2009. We spend a lot of time on that fix, and it may not be a permanent fix, We simply might say you can't use that with SBIE. The core of SBIE is to protect you online, AWM doesn't assist SBIE in that.

And what @Bo stated is very true. That could be the case, it may not be.

But again, if 5.12 wasn't working, I wouldn't be working, Curt, Bo and tens of thousands of other users would be in the same boat. A non working copy of SBIE.
