I have ff in a named sandbox with default(no) restrictions
ff loads a bit slower under sb (normal) but flash loads slowly to run video (blank box) and usually ff alerts plugin may have stopped working...
grahm, I think you should uninstall Firefox 64 bits and install the 32 bits version. This past few days I seen a few users reporting problems running Firefox sandboxed (every time its someone using the 64 bits version). In another forum I read someone who was experiencing an issue similar to yours saying that he fixed his problem by switching to the 32 bits version.

MicFem, I suggest you also try the 32 bits version of Firefox. I am pretty sure you ll get rid of your problem by doing so.

Create a New Sandbox and test Firefox and Flash Sandboxed.
How do I do that?

I have always been using the 32 bit version of Firefox

Navigate to:

Sandboxie control>Sandbox>Create new sandbox

Leave settings on default and dont copy settings from existing sandboxes. If flash works fine for you in a new sandbox, it would mean your other sandbox has some setting or something that is messing things up.

Hi,

I updated Firefox and Flash and created a new sandbox. But the problem still occurs :cry:

I suppose that there is a bug on Firefox or Sandboxie, because I really tried everything.

Does someone have (another) clue or advice? As I said before I had been using Sandboxie and Firefox without any problems for almost 4 years. Then all of a sudden (I think it was after a Firefox or Sandboxie Update) this cruical problem has started to occur.

Hello MicFem,

I cannot reproduce the problem. I have been navigating the site you posted on Win 7 x64 + FF Sandboxed (no restrictions). Plugin container shows up, but it does not crash.
I wonder if these steps might help you?: (if they don't work, just revert it to what it was)

You can also try disabling the Firefox Sandbox :
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=23902&start=15#p126087

Can you test a new Firefox profile and see if the issue happens there as well?

Hello, I have the almost same problem: Flashplayer (v25 latest version) does not work in a sandboxed Firefox 53 web browser.
My system: Windows 7 64bit Enterprise, Firefox 53/64bit - identified as Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; Win64; x64; rv:53.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/53.0

Example of the bug: Start the Firefox 53 in Sandboxie, load the homepage: http://www.alexo.org/onlinespiele/asteroids2.php
The loading of the game is stuck at 100% ; you cannot play the game.
However, I found a very strange solution: Make a SECOND sandbox, with no special settings, whatsoever, and start the Firefox53/64bit in the SECOND sandbox.
THEN, the game works.
And NO, my first sandbox DOES NOT HAVE any special settings, and every other 32-bit browser DOES work fine with flashplayer in the first sandbox.

But hey, I actually find this bug useful, because, if I want to avoid Flashplayer stuff, I simply use the first sandbox, otherwise the second one.
The sandboxie version I use is 5.12/64bit.

First sandbox:
[DefaultBox]
ConfigLevel=7
Template=PandaCloudAntivirus
Template=Firefox_Session_DirectAccess
Template=Thunderbird
Template=Eudora
Template=BlockPorts
Template=LingerPrograms
Template=Chrome_Phishing_DirectAccess

Template=AutoRecoverIgnore

OpenFilePath=firefox.exe,K:\FFCACHE
OpenFilePath=firefox.exe,X:\DOWNLOADS\
ForceProcess=eudora.exe
NotifyInternetAccessDenied=n
NotifyStartRunAccessDenied=y

Second sandbox:

Enabled=y
ConfigLevel=7
AutoRecover=y

Template=BlockPorts

Template=Firefox_Phishing_DirectAccess

Hello att,

Your first Sandbox contains some templates and open paths that are not listed in your Second Sandbox.

For example:
Template=PandaCloudAntivirus
Template=Firefox_Session_DirectAccess
OpenFilePath=firefox.exe,K:\FFCACHE

See if disabling any/all of those has any effect on the behavior.

I now made my "Default" Sandbox a 1:1 copy of the second sandbox, called [Sandbox2_Test].
Result: Same bug!!! -> The alexo.org asteriods2 game will not start, will be stuck at "loading 100%".
No clue now.

Hello att,

Definitely a weird issue. Can you please post your current Default Box config so that I can test it?
Also, just in case, did you empty the contents of it prior to launching Firefox?

I did empty all my sandboxes. It is just my defaultbox, that will not allow me to use Flashplayer pages correctly. The other boxes will work.
My current default box is as follows:

[GlobalSettings]

Template=OfficeLicensing
FileRootPath=E:\Sandbox\%USER%\%SANDBOX%

[DefaultBox]

Enabled=y
AutoRecover=y
ConfigLevel=7
NeverDelete=y
Template=PandaCloudAntivirus
Template=Thunderbird
Template=Eudora
Template=BlockPorts
Template=LingerPrograms
Template=Chrome_Phishing_DirectAccess
Template=Firefox_Phishing_DirectAccess
Template=AutoRecoverIgnore
RecoverFolder=%{374DE290-123F-4565-9164-39C4925E467B}%
RecoverFolder=%Personal%
RecoverFolder=%Favorites%
RecoverFolder=%Desktop%
BorderColor=#00FFFF,ttl
ForceProcess=eudora.exe
NotifyInternetAccessDenied=n
NotifyStartRunAccessDenied=y

att, let me make a suggestion. Remove your current DefaultBox, and rename one of the sandboxes that you dont have the issue to DefaultBox.

If that fixes the issue, dont try making sense of the problem :).

Hi all,

after 4 months of trying to fix that issue I have now come to the point to realise that there is nothing more to do than to call it quits and surrender. I really tried everything. Nothing, really nothing, seemed to have any influence on that problem. According to my point of view either Sandboxie or Firefox has to have a bug.

My question to you is: Is there any alternative for Sandboxie, because I have been using it for 5 years and have grown accustomed to it (as I said in the very beginning, I have never had any issues with Sandboxie until one silly update of Firefox that changend everything unfortunately)

Hi MicFem, I reread your posts and I see there are a bunch of things you haven't tried.

1. Try a new Firefox profile.
2. Disable Hardware acceleration (Options>Advanced>General) and Webgl (open about:config, toggle webgl.disabled to true) in Firefox.
3. Uninstall Firefox, do a clean install
4. Switch to another browser, Not Chrome or anything like Chrome but to a browser similar to Firefox (like Palemoon, Seamonkey).
5. For testing disable or better, uninstall Gdata. Years ago, the behavior module in Gdata conflicted with SBIE. It had a name, I dont remember what it was but disabling it was a good workaround.
6. Uninstall/reinstall Sandboxie. Dont keep settings.

Hi guys,

I tried a new FireFox profile and unistalled Firefox and installed it again. Then I did the same with Sandboxie (Uninstall and reinstall without kepping the settings). I also disabled GData and the Hardware acceleration...

Nothing, has had any influence on that problem. The problem still occurs as frequently as ever before. This really sucks; especially because everything had been okay for several years until one annoying update. Either Firefox, Sandboxie or the Flashplugin has a bug somewhere.

But as I said before: There is nothing that I can do anymore other than waving the white flag.

Cheers
