I cant do what?tzuk wrote:You can't do that. When a sandboxed application starts another application, the second one must also be sandboxed.
I dont have sandboxie running.. But when I start the computer the service is showing in the task manager.
I click a wmv file. Sandboxie then opens up.
This cant be right as I havent tried to sandbox anything.
What am I missing?
Let me try to explain again.tzuk wrote:You can't do that. When a sandboxed application starts another application, the second one must also be sandboxed.
1 I start my computer
2 at desktop I check task manager to make sure that sb isnt loaded. The driver is not running.
3 I click on a WMV file. Nothing happens.
4 Sb icon with red circle appears in my system bar.
5 after about 3 minutes the sb icon allows me to access the sb control panel and exit SB.
if I restart with sb driver auto loaded in services SB still starts if I click a wmv file. Dont I have control as to whether sb protects? If I dont click the sb icon why would sb start when I click a wmv file? Why is windows media player protected but no other player is? I didnt ask sb to protect wmp.
Shouldnt I be able to play a wmv file normally without sb interfering if I havent clicked the sb icon and protected the wmv file and or the movie player?

did you ever at one point have wmplayer set to auto sandbox? also did you somehow set sbie as the default for wmv files? right click the wmv file, goto properties and you should see "Opens With:" and then the name of whatever program is associated with wmv files on your pc, it is possible that somehow sbie might have become the default program for opening wmv files, btw this problem doesnt occur with any othere kind of file(s), only with wmv files right?
Windows 7 SP1 x64, Sandboxie v3.70 x64 with Experimental Protection, GnuPG, OTR (Off-The-Record), Sticky Password, My Brain.
I did not set SB as the default for anything. So far wmp is the only issue. Where in sandboxie should I see wmp as potentially sandboxed. Ive clicked everything and wmp is nowhere in sandboxie till I click a wmv file then wmp is sandboxed.SnDPhoenix wrote:did you ever at one point have wmplayer set to auto sandbox? also did you somehow set sbie as the default for wmv files? right click the wmv file, goto properties and you should see "Opens With:" and then the name of whatever program is associated with wmv files on your pc, it is possible that somehow sbie might have become the default program for opening wmv files, btw this problem doesnt occur with any othere kind of file(s), only with wmv files right?
Maybe I dont understand.
1 After installing sandboxie do programs auto start in SB even if Ive set nothing thru SB?
2 If #1 is NO then should sandboxie startup anytime I clip an exe?

Ok Ive reassociated the files and everything is ok now. Wonder why Sandboxie loves wmp:)
