What happens to manual configuration settings in .ini file?

Post by RonC » Mon Sep 18, 2006 4:45 pm

The documentation says that if Sandboxie.ini is set to 1, the control program can write to it, and if set to 99, manually-made entries will be retained.

Does this mean, assuming we start at 99 with a manually-edited file, and change that to 1, to apply certain new settings from configuration menus,
  • 1) Any and all manually created OpenPath statements, etc. will be deleted, as the new settings automatically being added, or,

    2) Prior manual changes for areas not affected by the control program's settings will be retained, and only entries covered by the control program's configuration menus will be changed?
If (1) is the case, perhaps (2) would be nice in a future version?

Couldn't find this exact point in the documentation. If I missed it, a link will be fine.

Clarification:

Any version of Sandboxie Control does know about all possible SandboxieIni settings, for that version of Sandboxie, even if it does not contain interface windows to alter some of them. When it overwrites the configuration file, Sandboxie Control should preserve all settings, including those manually edited. (But it will not preserve manually edited comments, or style.)

Great, very user friendly. I was afraid all my manually-customized settings would go "down the tubes," but am relieved to know this would not be the case. Also, very classy and professional-looking logo I see for the first time at the top of this page.
