Sandboxie & EA's Origin

If it doesn't fit elsewhere, it goes here

...and if you install Origin and Battlefield 3 outside your Program-Folder, for example "C:\Origin" etc.?
Then you can block the whole Program-Folder with:
ClosedFilePath=C:\Program Files\
ClosedFilePath=C:\Program Files (x86)\
Additional you can block other partitions and personal folders.
I think, it should work, right?
I can't test it, because my order of BF3 doesn't arrived until now.

I would like to know, how to install BF3 correct in combination with a sandboxed Origin?
How can I ensure, that all the Savegame-Folders etc. are installed outside the Sandbox?

I hope, that someone with enough experience can create an easy tutorial for a working solution
for all the desperate Origin-haters out there. He would be my hero! :)

I won´t touch it either until Origin is blocked off as much as possible.

What about: making a 2. partition on ones HHD, installing a 2. Windows version, creating a user account with minimal rights and using Sandboxie somehow.
Of course one would have to use admin-rights for update..but shouldn´t that do it..?

well, for me the Wraithdu workaround doesn´t work:

After putting Origin in a sandbox and using Wraithdu´s files, Origin can´t scan my system (thanks to procmon.exe for the info), so that´s fine. What´s bad: BF3 doesn´t launch anymore!

Any other idea? Does this workaround work properly? -> http://bf3blog.com/forum/topic/how-to-m ... r-computer

Thanks !

Appreciate getting some more info on this.

A config file specific to origin & BF3 would be of tremendous help.

Thank you.

Thank you looks interesting.

Hopefully someone post a tutorial soon. Otherwise there is this for now or play it somehow to get it to work.

As suggested earlier in this topic, a good starting point is a new sandbox with default configuration. You can install Origin + BF3 into this sandbox or you can have them installed on the computer (outside the sandbox) and just use Run Sandboxed on the shortcut for the game.

When you confirm this works, start adding Blocked File Access settings to block off access to specific folder locations and then check if the game still works fine. If you review this topic, some of the comments say that blocking too much will cause the game to fail to load, so this is something to take into consideration.

Tzuc, I have a major problem with this.

I right click on Origin & "Run Sandboxed"
From webbrowser, I "join server" but it always launches a nonsandboxed origin, usually in offline mode.

Can someone please let us know the simplest way to get an installed origin & BF3 to run sandboxed.

Thank you

The web browser that opens to display the BF3 server browser -- it is not in the sandbox?

Other Question about that Origin problem.
If I use sandboxie running Vmware, having a virtual Desktop and so on, installing Origin under this virtual station.Question: Would sandboxie block all actions from vmware scaned by origin??? I want only 1rule for sandboxie even if i install applications origin based under virtual station.Too lazy for manual modiffications.I´ve read the whole origin contract   :!:

BUMP
I have followed the guide on total banter (which appears to work despite a few errors when launching origin) but it's quite technical and I feel most people just want an easy solution

Would asking the Sandboxie team to provide a user friendly way to do this be asking too much?

I believe a very large amount of people hate having Origin installed but they just put up with it watching them on their computer because doing something about it is too hard.

Also Wraithdu's DLL files don't work

According to my point of view, I am able to run origin from this sandbox, but don't know if I should really uninstall and reinstall in the actual sandbox, or if I need to follow the instructions linked in the 1st reply. Any sandboxie expert who can chime in would be greatly appreciated. BF3 could end up being a big $$ maker for sandboxie Smile..
