Tray Icon Indicate whether Sandbox is empty.

First let me say that I am delighted with Sandboxie
which now is a valued permanent part of my OSs.

I prefer that SB does not empty the sandbox automatically
in case I forget to recover something (e.g. new e-mail)

When I close my browser the tray icon loses its spots.
I then need to manually check whether or not there is anything in the sandbox which I might want to retrieve.

Would it be possible for the tray icon to indicate that the sandbox isn't empty, (e.g. by the spots changing colour) ?

This would be like icing on the cake for my method of working
and certainly not a bug fix.

This feature request seems impractical for those who have multiple sandboxes.
I have 7 sandboxes, one of which is on a TrueCrypt volume that isn't mounted most of the time.
I'm sure that others have many more sandboxes than I do.

Yep, same here, I got about 20 sandboxes, most of which I dont delete cause I'd lose all my saved data. So therefore, this request would only be practical to those running one sandbox...

- I can well see the impracticality in cases like yours with multiple (permanent) sandboxes.

In my experience recovery of e-mails has been somewhat uncertain
hence the need to check before closing my browser.

Maybe it could become a configuration option for single sandbox users,
particularly if they are relatively novices,
who only barely understand the concepts of sandboxes and quick recovery
(e.g. my wife with whom I share my PC),
and who derive enormous security benefits from Sandboxed browsing.

As I indicated, this would be icing on the cake for me.
If it is not possible, I can live happily with SB as it is.

Just tossing it around.. Does the email effect whether or not that sandbox is actually empty - seems like there would be something else in there whether or not a new email came in.

Not quite sure what you mean by "something else".

It may be that the quick recovery facility depends on SBCtrl being active when my mail client (OE6) starts in sandbox.
I had been using Win Patrol to disable SBCtrl at PC startup,
and just start when a forced program (IE7 or OE6) starts.

This was a legacy of some earlier problems I was having with various security startup applications conflicting with each other and preventing SB drivers from initialising properly. However, such problems seem a thing of the past with current editions of SB, OA, Avast!, and even Threatfire.

I think I had got into the habit of not having SB delete the sandbox when the browser closed because of uncertainty about whether or not I'd be offered quick recovery of changes to my OE Store, depending on whether or not SBCtrl was running.

Of late, I have SB start at PC start, although sometimes it seems to be delayed for about a minute, as the other security apps "do their thing".
(They all, including Sandboxie, seem to think that they are the only startup application.)

By something else, I mean like a reghive, a reghive.log, the OE6 application, anything. Is it completely empty totally in one situation - but simply receiving an email starts the sandbox?

I keep my working files on a separate partition W: (called WORK)
which includes folders for E-Mails Current (OE6 Store), Favourites, My Documents
all of which are shared by various OSs in a multiboot setup
and included in SB Quick Recovery.

The sandbox itself is on a partition T: (TEMP)
along with other temporary folders such as Temporary Internet Files, Sandboxed downloads,
the latter also being included in quick recovery.

This arrangement is aimed at reducing fragmentation of the C: drive.

Hence my DefaultBox contains 2 folders:- \drive and \user, the former containing folders for C, T, & W.
There are also RegHive and RegHive.log files.

If for some reason a download file isn't offered for quick recovery, I go to these drive folders and extract it from there.
Likewise, if I think I've lost an e-mail, I can check in DefaultBox \ drives \W \ E-Mails Current.

Now that I have a better understanding of the DefautBox, I seldom have problems with lost files.

Please do not waste too much time on this - I really am very happy with the current Sandboxie.
