Portable Chrome is the latest version, yup. I don't really see how Keycrypt Zemana AntiLogger could cause this, considering how all it does is protect me against keyloggers and... Add SSL Intrusion Prevention? I tried disabling it, but no. Still crashing.

garack seemingly has the same problem as me. Maybe he can post a log and you can check if there are any similarities?

Chrome also freezes on the settings screen for quite some time, if that helps. fvtchrome seems to have that problem.

The keylogger is injecting code..Curt can explain more.. But when I run that keylogger program sandboxed, it doesn't work at all. SBIE crashes. The other user (garack) solved the majority of the issues removing and reinstalling Chrome.

I'm not running AntiLogger sandboxed. I'm running it outside Sandboxie.

I don't see how that could help me though. SRWare Iron was installed today. Portable Chrome was installed AFTER I installed Sandboxie.

That was my next question.

The keylogger and chrome (Chrome in a SB) play nice together. No errors. However...

Running them BOTH in as "sandboxed", it doesn't work.

So how are you loading portable chrome? via USB to a host machine that has the keylogger already installed? What is the step by step process?

As for SRWare, that's not a browser we test. It's not common enough. Plus, it hasn't been updated to support Win10. It seems dev on that has ceased. (that would explain that issue w/ Win 10) And it claims to be "open source" yet, they have never released the code. Lifehacker is very suspicious of it calling it scare/scam ware. I'd delete that program in a nano second..besides, what it's "supposed" to address can be easily accomplished in Chrome standard. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SRWare_Iron

Thats wrong for the crashes. It solved my Problem that downloads dont start in chrome.

It doesnt solve the crash problem, that i expierence very often on my 32 BIt Windows 10 Home and latest Chrome / Sandboxie. Like 50% of áll time Chrome Crash when starting.
On my 64 Bit Windows Pro and same chrom / SB Version Chrome crash like 1/10 Times when starting.

This only happens since WIndows 10. Never got this with both machines on Win8.1

The 32 Bit machine is a Asus T100 Convertible so its slow. Perhaps that is the diferrence (Besides 32/64 Bit)? The 64 Bit is a 4790k With SSD.

On Both machines latest Win10 with Updates latest Chrome and Latest SB installed. Both full versions of SB. SB defalut settings, except auto delete content and Force Google Chrome in Sandbox.

I use Win10. Installed Sandboxie today, works fine with Firefox.

For my work I am required to run Chrome.
So Sandboxie for me is all about sandboxing Chrome - but it doesn't work!
The application doesn't run, it always says its no legitimate application/ can't run.

I use 64bit version both Chrome and Sandbox.
Both programs are up to date. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Well, for starters it's not a keylogger. It's an anti-keylogger. You probably know that, but in case you misunderstood me I just want to make that clear.

I have portable Chrome installed in my home directory, and I've set its folder as "forced" and I typically run Chromeportable.exe from a desktop shortcut. But you know what, I'm going to wait for the Windows 10 November update, then I'm going to reinstall Windows 10 from scratch. After you release a new update of Sandboxie to support Threshhold 2 I will install it, and then we will see if this still happens. explorer.exe keeps crashing multiple times per day, and I can't say with absolute certainty that my Windows 10 is working 100%. Therefore it's impossible for either of us to tell if Sandboxie or Windows 10 is the one screwing me over.

See you in November, I guess.

What is reporting "no legitimate application/ can't run" ??? Chrome or SBIE?

Have you tried the 32 bit (standard) version of Chrome?

cj716 wrote:I have a slightly different Chrome issue than noted here.

I've never been able to get it to sandbox consistently on any SBIE version (including latest beta) on any iteration of Win 10 x64.

Essentially I get a sporadic SBIE2224 Sandboxed program has crashed: chrome.exe when opening the browser sandboxed either forced or via start.exe. I can get numerous clean starts then a crash but on other occasions it just crashes on first run after booting an is unusable thereafter. There seems to be no different machine or user behaviour contributing to the inconsistencies.

Anyway, this is not my first rodeo, so have tried disabling then uninstalling plug-ins, running in virgin default sandbox with clean install of Chrome and adding chrome.exe to leader and then lingering (not at the same time!) in case it is a hangover from a previous dodgy closedown. I have no other security software installed getting in the way and from what I can see nothing else is injecting into the browser or SBIE processes. The RAM is identical with a clean start and a crash.

Looking a the activities in the sandbox it appears that when things go well forced the launch order seems to be chrome.exe, SandboxirRpcEs.exe, SandboxieDcomLaunch.exe, chrome.exe then the browser launches.

When it does not go well the order is chrome.exe, SandboxirRpcEs.exe, SandboxieDcomLaunch.exe, werfault.exe then the 2224 message and everything in the sandbox gets stuck. Only terminate programmes will cause any change.

Same for unforced sandbox launches but obviously start.exe invoked the sandboxing process.

I appreciate there may be overarching Chrome on Win 10 issues but this only happens when sandboxed for me. If it just didn't work it might be better but the inconsistency is driving me nuts so any advice, workarounds etc. I'd be delighted to hear.

Thanks
Hello,
I'm new here and recently bought Sandboxie. Now, I have exactly the same problem as described up there.

I did a clean install of WIN 10 Home 64-bit and after that I installed Chrome (newest Version) and then Sandboxie. Sometimes it crashes just before the first start, sometimes it crashes after the fith start ... There is no logic recognizable. I tried to reinstall chrome and tried both versions (32 bit / 64 bit) but there seems to be no difference.

Do you have an ideas to solve this problem (SBIE2224 Sandboxed program has crashed: chrome.exe).

For your help thank you in advance.

Best regards
heini

@heini,
Did you install any Windows updates in the last 24 hours? If so, then this is your issue http://forums.sandboxie.com/phpBB3/view ... 11&t=21911

If not, are you running any antivirus?

This is the chrome crashing Theme, but with different Problems. So in quote myself with my problem.

I want to report that the latest Chrome update Version 46.0.2490.71 m doesnt solve my crashes on both machines.

@Craig@Invincea
Thank you for your response...

I don't think that i installed some updates within the last 24 hours - the problem exists already about one week or so, since i installed Sandboxie and Chrome.

Yes, I'm running Avast Free Antivirus...

Thank you in advance for your support....

We have been able to repro an intermittent chrome crash on startup. It appears to be a race condition brought about by the changes in Win 10 to improve process startup speed. We are investigating.

Thanks Curt glad I'm not going mad. Appreciate you have bigger fish to fry with Win 10 essentially using production systems as beta test beds but I will be extremely grateful when you get to the bottom of this one.

Cheers
Chris
