Who doesn't have the money to buy a license under the current licensing terms? I'm not making fun of low income people (and I certainly don't make six figures), but are there really people on welfare who are interested in online security who have searched out and found this program and website but are unable to afford less than $2.00/month for the cost of the program? Maybe I live in a bubble, but I don't get that at all. If you're literally living paycheck to paycheck maybe you don't need internet service at all, and/or need to sit down and see what kind of fat you can trim off the monthly budget in order to have an extra $2/month to spend.Throwawayaccount123456 wrote:Imagine you don't have the money to buy a license next year.
Problem buy
On the one hand I also think that an annual payment of 15 Euro (plus VAT) is a quite modest price for such an excellent software as Sandboxie. No doubt. And from this aspect I see no convincing argument to complain about the new licensing model.
But on the other hand to my mind there is no reason at all to praise the new licensing system (as it happens from many persons) because finally any deal which requires a periodical payment is unattractive for the buyer.
And this is not (only) a statement from me or from some mean people who are not willing to pay for benefits they receive. No, this is (was?) the opinion of tzuk himself (at least about 3 years ago), when he wrote:

So let's view the matter in a sober way:
- The new system with periodical payments and the given amount of 15 Euro is a fair deal (especially keeping in mind the quality of the product you get for it).
- But at the same time it is an unattractive solution for the customer. And it is a clear cancellation of the principles that the seller himself had stated.

[bold type added by me]I have no reason to change the business model, which is working fine. I don't like yearly renewals for software myself so I don't expect people who kindly pay for Sandboxie to suffer that themselves.
