Thanks MDrew for testing it and telling us about the result.
After examining my PML file, Curt@invincea also got the impression that (at least in my case) Norton is responsible for some delays in starting Firefox in the sandbox which probably cause the issue.

First, I have tried the "Real Time Exclusions" discovered by Craig here
http://forums.sandboxie.com/phpBB3/view ... 15#p115023
As the screen print shows, there are various program folders that are excluded (NB: There is no "Program Data" folder in XP so I substituted "Application Data" instead") and, as suggested, I added Sandboxie to my list of exclusions as well.
However, after adding all these "exclusions" within the AV part of my Norton Internet Security, Firefox would still not open when sandboxed,
The same here (even after adding some additional Mozilla folders to the exclusions).
The only cumbersome "method" for me how opening Firefox in the Sandbox "works", continues to be the following: I must start Firefox in the sandbox (as starting of the firefox.exe works but not opening the browser), then I must exit the sandbox and stop the Firefox-process in the taskbar manually. After doing this several times (before at least 5 or 6 times) I maybe lucky and Firefox finally will open.
I cannot understand why suddenly this problem arises for several users at the same time - all of us presumably users of Norton (and of Sandboxie) already for a l longer time (in my case years) and without having made recently some fundamental change in our systems.
And surely it is not simply a problem of Norton (plus Firefox) itself but a problem
in combination with Sandboxie because outside of Sandboxie Firefox continues to open/start without any problems and in the usual speed. So I must say that I feel a little bit worried that obviously no one of the experts can find out (or takes care?) which is the specific connection between Norton and Sandboxie (or vice versa) that could be the reason for the problem.

I am going to start looking around for another Internet Security software.
Of course this could be a solution, but it is a quite radical one. At the moment I still hope that there could exist some "softer" alternative.

Anyway, I got the PML file and I am looking to deposit it somewhere.
If you still want to do so, please read my PM. I have mentioned there a filehoster where presumably you need no registration:
