Steam games
I'm having problems running some Steam games on Sandboxie v5.05-1 (on Windows 10)
Although most games work, I realized the games that don't launch are only Valve games, so far I've tried these Valve games:
1) Counter Strike: Global Offensive Launches (instant crash)
2) Team Fortress 2 (instant crash)
3) Left 4 Dead 2 (instant crash)
4) Counter Strike: Source (instant crash)
5) Portal 2 (works perfectly)
6) Half Life 2 (instant crash)
I guess Sandboxie and Source games just don't play well together.
Sandboxie doesn't always spew out errors, but I do sometimes get errors like:
SBIE2224 Sandboxed program has crashed: csgo.exe

Re: Steam games
Maybe. Could be something Valve is doing. However there is a ton of posts about cargo.exe crashing and having issues over in the Steam forums. How well does it work outside of SBIE?

Re: Steam games
When I used windows 10 I did not find solution to the problem, but noted a peculiarity, if you add this line
ClosedIpcPath=\RPC Control\Audiosrv
that the game runs more often. It may be necessary to further block the flash player.
Currently rolled back on windows 8.1x64 on it there are no problems with the launch of games valve

Re: Steam games
I'd try our newest beta too. It addresses issues with the latest windows update that causes issues w/ Flash and FF.DemonAk wrote:When I used windows 10 I did not find solution to the problem, but noted a peculiarity, if you add this line

Re: Steam games
latest steam client uses Chromium version 45.0.2454.85 and I had a problem with the launch of version 4.20 on until I remove the update KB3088195. I know that it is fixed in the latest beta but I do not want to use itCraig@Invincea wrote:I'd try our newest beta too. Re: Steam games
I'm going to assume you're using 4.20 on a Win 7/8.1 machine? v5.04 was the stable version that replaced v4.20, but given the Patch Tuesday issue, that will be replaced soon as well. There are a lot of changes in v5 that should be considered, but if you're happy with 4.20 and not on Windows 10, then you're ok....for now at least.DemonAk wrote:latest steam client uses Chromium version 45.0.2454.85 and I had a problem with the launch of version 4.20 on until I remove the update KB3088195. I like windows 10 but I can not use it until there is a problem with the launch of steam games via sandboxie.Craig@Invincea wrote:I'm going to assume you're using 4.20 on a Win 7/8.1 machine? v5.04 was the stable version that replaced v4.20, but given the Patch Tuesday issue, that will be replaced soon as well. Re: Steam games
CS1.6 works just fine
CS:GO and CS:S don´t work with latest Sandboxie Beta and Windows 10 x64 installed.
Same machine with Windows 8.1 x64 all games work fine.
Is there any fix already for that Windows 10 issue?

Re: Steam games
In testing, Steam client works with v5.05.2. Some games have been tested, but there is no way to test them all (we don't have access to the catalog). Games that worked in 8.1, may possibly not work in Win 10.CSGservices wrote:CS1.6 works just fine

Re: Steam games
Well, if it helps I can provide a steam account with CS:GO for testing purposes

Re: Steam games
TF2 was tested, and that works just fine under Win 10. Valve move intro, and into the actual game which can be had here http://depositfiles.com/files/rd0s2c98h
This was tested on both 8.1 and 10/64. without issue. The Steam client should be updated OUTSIDE of SBIE. Games should also be installed on your host machine and not in a SB. The games can then be run "as sandboxed."

Re: Steam games
Yes, that how I did it on my machine, but still CSGO opens and instantly closes again :/
Re: Steam games
I dusted off my sandboxie tf2 accounts for halloween and while steam client loads beautifully, the game does exactly as CSGservices said CSGO did,Craig@Invincea wrote:TF2 was tested, and that works just fine under Win 10. it starts to load and disappears, never getting past that initial dialog box.CSGservices wrote:Yes, that how I did it on my machine, but still CSGO opens and instantly closes again :/
Using win 10, 32 bit, my settings haven't changed since last known working sandboxie setup, and I'm using 5.05.2 beta since the stable didn't work either.
Given full access to the steam and steamapps directory, originally i used the separate steamapps directly which was a little out of date, but it updated and validated. I'm not sure what you mean the game should be updated outside of sandboxie. But to try again I simply copied my fully patched non sandboxie steamapps folder with tf2 to the sandboxie steam directory so it would have been updated outside of sandboxie, steam had to redetect/reinstall the files, but it wouldn't load the game just the same as before.
Not sure what's going on, maybe microsoft broke something again with a patch o.0
but I see the notable difference is I"m running 32 bit, not 64 bit as you tested, maybe CSGservices is also using 32bit
Re: Steam games
It's likely because CS:GO uses valve anti-cheat and relies on the steam service being actually installed on the system running and accessible. You'll have to have steam installed outside of sbie for it to even have a chance at working as sbie doesn't allow services or drivers installed in a box. I experienced this with Left 4 Dead 2 (It would get to the menu etc fine) and my sbie only based steam whenever I started joining a multiplayer game it would ctd, no errors just bam, gone. Short of actually installing steam outside of sbie I opted to just reboot and play it on my isolated gaming-only OS. I was never willing to install steam, origin, etc outside of sbie on my main OS so I can't help at all if you already have steam installed (maybe re-install it outside of sbie?) on the system and still have these errors. =( It's also possible there may be some 'resources access monitor' clues to help figure out what you need to allow if you have steam installed on the system with the service running outside sbie.
This account has been abandoned. If you need to PM me, please send a message to Syrinx.
Re: Steam games
No, it used to work, the entire anti cheat steam service thing has been a thing for years now, and at the very least the game would load, perhaps be unable to join valve vac servers but the game would actually function.
