gaming compatiblilty
Hey tzuk,
I install a lot of games on my pc, just to remove them again after a few days of trial... often those are demo's...
anyway, i think most of us know how dramaticaly windows slows down after a huge amount of installs/uninstalls...
a lot of junk is left behind.
It would be great if most if not all games would be playable inside sandboxie so all junk can be REALY removed.
Maybe it's a bit too risky or to hard to make it all work together, security/playability...
then maybe a "gaming mode" is some sort of an option...
i'd love to hear more ideas on this.

tzuk, try steam (www.steampowered.com) it fails to start anyway...
in case you don't know steam, it's a platform on wich a lot of games run (like counter-strike)
and in case the platform doesn't run, the game isn't even close to being able to run
gl! love to see results here

Yep works here too, ive also tried some small demo games from Reflexive.net and BigFishGames, and those demo games work too, only think i havent tried (and wont do to the size of the games) are my "big" games like F.E.A.R, BattleField 2142, GTA:SA, Half-life series, Flatout 1&2, etc.. but im sure those would work too.
Windows 7 SP1 x64, Sandboxie v3.70 x64 with Experimental Protection, GnuPG, OTR (Off-The-Record), Sticky Password, My Brain.
when i start steam sandboxed i get
Code: Select all
ERROR
Steam.exe (main exception): Unable to start Steam Engine: *SteamStartEngine(0x12e8b8) failed with error1: Failed create pipe, Win32 Error 2 "Cannot find the specified path."

Hmm, gives me an idea, try doing a PipeTrace and see if/whats blocked, cause it seems a certain resource is blocked and thats why it wont work for you.failed with error1: Failed create pipe....
Windows 7 SP1 x64, Sandboxie v3.70 x64 with Experimental Protection, GnuPG, OTR (Off-The-Record), Sticky Password, My Brain.
here's the pipe trace, after this the error pops up
i used:
OpenPipePath=*
to test if it works if pipe is fixed, and indeed it works, i can even play counter strike, BUT...
i dont have any sound... any idea?
Code: Select all

Dont know if this really matters or not, but i found some more mirrors
http://www.filemirrors.com/search.src?f ... =874393513
Now i would test this out myself and see if i get the same problem, but im running XP and you said the problem only occurs with Windows 2003, i do have 2003 enterprise r2 though, but i have barely any free space left on my HD, so i cant install 2003 on a seperate partition
