Forced Folder causes some application to crash

Post by RadarNyan » Mon Apr 24, 2017 3:15 am

I've setup Forced Folder for one of my Sandbox, let's say "B:\" (B Drive is where I mounted my drive) and I also have "B:\" added in Full File Acccess (OpenPipePath)

At first it works beautifully, all applications located in B: Drive starts in the Sandbox, and can read&write the same drive directly without any problem. However, some applicaion would just crash if I double-click on the executable - while they work just fine if I right-click on them and choose "Run Sandboxed" manually. When I check Sandboxie Control, I can see the Application Process listed under the Sandbox though.

Windows 7 with Sbie 5.18, the last one I run into this problem is a game created with RPG Maker MV with single executable, which I believe was created by Enigma Virtual Box. EDIT: I tried to unpack the game using EnigmaVBUnpacker and the unpacked game still can not be started directly by double-click on the executable, I have to manually run it with the right-click menu.

Hello RadarNyan,

Can you provide the names of the applications that trigger the issue, so that I can test the behavior?
Do other Sandboxed applications launch fine from that mounted drive?
Do you have any Antivirus Software installed?

Also, please use the "Code" button in the forum and paste the output of Resource Access Monitor:

Barb.-

I don't know if this helps, but I managed to reproduce this behavior and found a workaround.

If the program is created in the forced folder (eg: extracted from archive) the program can not run by double-click (can via right-click menu)
But if I unmount and re-mount the drive (the entire drive is set as forced folder) after the creation of the program, it can be started by double-click without any problem.
