copy and paste not working using firefox browser
Newest version 5.20 64 bit running on windows 7 pro
I cannot copy and paste from firefox browser under sandboxie.
I uninstalled sandboxie and reinstalled still not working.
This has worked in the past and it just started within the last couple months with upgrade to v5.2
Any help appreciated.

Sorry should have mentioned I tried the beta also after I cleaned the system.
Same results not able to copy and paste, works fine Non sandboxed.
Thanks for the quick response.

Re: copy and paste not working using firefox browser
Hi Dr Pete,
Please provide this info so that I can test the behavior: (include repro steps please)
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=19746
Also, does the issue occur in a new sandbox with default settings?
Regards,
Barb.-

Re: copy and paste not working using firefox browser
I just tried V 4.20 the same results.
Here is my system:
O/S Windows 7 64 bit Pro
Sanboxie V 5.20 & beta 5.21.2 with same results
Firefox V 54.0.1 64 bit
I use built in windows firewall.
I use Malwarebytes & Winpatrol.
No anti-virus programs.
Copied & pasted from notepad into sandboxed window. Just cannot get anything out of sandbox.
I guess security is good?

Re: copy and paste not working using firefox browser
Hello Dr Pete,
I tested copying text from Firefox (x64) Sandboxed to Notepad (non-sandboxed) and did not experience any issues.
Can you please provide the exact steps that you are following?
Does the issue occur in a new Sandbox with default settings?
Please try a new Firefox profile, to see if that helps.
Regards,
Barb.-

Re: copy and paste not working using firefox browser
Let me try to ask this correctly.
I did notice on another machine same exact os and firefox that when I look at sandboxie configuration there are a couple of files there.
I think maybe 3 or 4, on this machine there is only 1 file being used?
Is something not loading on this machine that a new configuration would help?
I have always just used sandboxie as is right after loading with no input from me.
I tried a new profile under firefox already. I even tried a fix thinking that it was just firefox with no help. (Un-sandboxed browser works fine)
I sandbox firefox and go to any page, I copy any text from that page and open a new tab and open google and try to paste.
I have also tried to paste into notepad and the paste is grayed out.
I guess technically the copy is there just not working?
Thanks,
Pete

Re: copy and paste not working using firefox browser
Dr Pete, you should do as Barb suggested and create a new sandbox and test. Sometimes thats all you need to do to fix an issue. Copy from sandboxed Firefox and pasting outside the sandbox should be working fine for you. When you create the new sandbox, dont copy settings.
Bo
Its more like perhaps some setting thats enabled now is messing things up or corrupting something.

Re: copy and paste not working using firefox browser
What are the others shown here that are on the machine which works?
Re: copy and paste not working using firefox browser
I'm assuming you mean the firefox instances w/o the icon which could mean it's related to not using the newer e10/multiprocess stuff perhaps? I've used it both ways on my end and had no issues with copy and paste, in the past, however. =(
The other 'Sandboxie*.exe' ones are all Sandboxies...
As a test I suppose you could reset the rules via about:config for the one that isn't working to see if it makes a difference.
eg the browser.tabs.remote.autostart related ones
Creating a new box with a default profile, as previously suggested, could also help isolate it if might be involved.

Re: copy and paste not working using firefox browser
Interesting, thanks for the report. I noticed this issue as well, but wasn't sure if this was just me and also didn't find it extremely annoying (it is slightly disturbing though). Copying text from a sandboxed Firefox browser and pasting it, for example into a virtual machine's browser window, doesn't work. But here is the funny thing:
This works for me is what I actually use as a workaround. Copying from a sandboxed Firefox and pasting into a non-sandboxed instance of Notepad works. Selecting and copying the inserted text in Notepad and inserting the text into my virtual machine works just fine again.Barb@Invincea wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2017 5:29 pmI tested copying text from Firefox (x64) Sandboxed to Notepad (non-sandboxed) and did not experience any issues.
Re: copy and paste not working using firefox browser
Update:
I completely removed all instances of firefox and then sandboxie.
After rebooting machine several times after each removal and to make sure there weren't any files left over I reinstalled the newest version of firefox and the newest beta version of sandboxie.
No luck, same results with 1 slight difference. The paste is not grayed out but clicking does nothing.
Also CTRL-C & CTRL-V does nothing.
I also cannot paste to notepad outside sandbox.
I tried earlier making a new instance of sandboxie without settings and it does the same.
I can report that it is firefox related, chrome works sandboxed and copy & paste functions.
Not sure where to go from here, I really like and want to use sandbox on this machine with functions working.
I wonder if there is another work around?
Thank you everyone for your time thinking of this problem and offering solutions.

Re: copy and paste not working using firefox browser
Hello Dr Pete,
So, you are trying to copy from the Sandbox to a VM, correct?
I tested the following from a Win 10 host to a Win 8.1 guest (both x64):
Copying text from Sandboxed Firefox to a non-sandboxed Notepad inside a VM: Success
Copying text from Sandboxed Firefox to a Sandboxed notepad inside a VM: Success
Copying text from Sandboxed Firefox to a Sandboxed Firefox inside a VM: Success
Copying text from Sandboxed Firefox from a Guest Win 7 x64 to a Guest Win 8.1 x64, as well as to a host Win 10 x64 sandboxed Firefox :Success
What are the exact steps that you are following? If you provide them to me, I will be able to test them.
Are you able to copy to your VM outside Sandboxie? Maybe you need to reinstall your VM tools?
Also, do you use any programs that may be modifying your clipboard?
Do all your VMs present the same issue?
Did you try enabling/disable e10s as Syrinx proposed on his post?
Not sure we will see anything, but, create a new Sandbox and follow these steps to repro the issue and paste the output in the forum (use the "Code </>" button to format it please).

Re: copy and paste not working using firefox browser
Steps I take to copy:
Grab any text from random google search page, not the site just from google main search page.
Open new tab which is also sandboxed and go to google, paste is now there but does not work.
I also notice since cleaning everything that my toolbars and menu is gone under sandboxie but is present on Non-sandboxed browser.
Note: Only on firefox, chrome works so this problem is firefox dependent.
I did enable multiprocess no difference.

Re: copy and paste not working using firefox browser
Hello Dr Pete,
I am unable to reproduce the issue. Have you ever installed any clipboard manager software or similar?
If you have any additional information to provide, that would be great.
Regarding the menu, try changing your Firefox theme. More info here:
