Gaming security measures don't like Sandboxie

Post by darkgladi8or » Sun Feb 03, 2013 8:39 pm

I play an old game called Ragnarok Online, specifically, a private server that uses the security software Harmony

Whenever I run the game's client in a sandbox, it sees that Sandboxie's processes are running and closes the game.

Below is what I get for a Resource Monitor Log:

Code: Select all

I assume that I need to block access to the following lines:

Code: Select all

So, 2 questions: is there a wildcard option as far as IPC blocking, and how do I go about blocking access to an Image?
I'm sort of new to sandboxie, so take it easy

AFAIR, there're very many ways to detect being sandboxed.
As a rule, it's done purposely, mainly, to prevent abusing (in your case it might have something to do with cheating, multiwindows, etc).

Thus, it really poses a few questions about your just purpose...
On the other hand, check Contributed Utilities> Block Process Access section by wraithdu.
It did help me to avoid a couple of nuances ;)

Thanks for the reply!
That utility is pretty awesome, and will be a nice tool to throw into my toolbox. However, it doesn't quite solve my problem ;)
That DLL blocks programs in the sandbox from accessing outside processes, but unfortunately sandboxie runs a few programs inside of the sandbox, such as SandboxieDcomLaunch.exe and SandboxieRpcSs.exe. Harmony actually doesn't scan any processes outside of the sandbox that I know of right now.

As far as my intentions, I will say that you are partly correct- I do intend to bypass the security software. Unfortunately, Harmony comes with a lot of overhead and severely hampers skill spamming by a human, and as well I would like to enable basic macros. I can use comodo firewall's sandbox for this, but I rather like the idea of Sandboxie because it's a much more simple and less bloated program.
I also don't like the idea of this software going through my files and processes. This is a small server and I'd rather be safe than sorry when it comes to personal data and such.
