Drop Rights

Post by carlito77 » Wed Jan 03, 2018 8:48 am

My Chrome browser crashes when I have drop rights enabled. But as soon as I disable it, 'drop rights', every thing is OK. I use another browser that does the same thing. Strange that both browsers run on the Chromium engine. I decided to test Firefox, a non Chromium based browser, and it ran OK, I'm concluding that there are some issues with 'drop rights' and chromium based browsers. I'd appreciate if anybody can share any fix for this problem. Thanks in advance.

Hello carlito77,

Please provide the required information:
viewtopic.php?f=11&t=19746

Does the issue follow you to a new Sandbox with default settings (and drop rights) ?

Regards,
Barb.-

Hi Carlito. In some systems, thats what happens with Chrome and Drop rights. Its been like that for years. The only thing you can do is not enable Drop rights in your Chrome sandboxes.

I've reinstalled the latest version of Sandbozie, 5.22 on my win7 64 bit system. Both my Chrome and Opera browsers crash when drop rights is enabled. Strangely, Firefox does not crash but I hate Firefox. So my question is, is my security compromised if drop rights is disabled? Or, is there another configuration I can use besides drop rights? Thanks in advance.

Hello carlito77,

If you provide the info and test results I requested before, I will test it. (Keep in mind that reinstalling Sandboxie will not delete your old Sandbox, so you will still need to create a new one with default settings for testing purposes).
Also, if possible, post your Sandboxie configuration file:
Configure-->Edit Configuration
Copy/paste the contents here, highlight them and click on the "</>" button to format them.

Regarding Drop Rights, this is what it does:

If you are looking for restrictions, you can review this entry:

Regards,
Barb.-
