How to enable Permanently Protected Mode for IE 10

Post by Ogre3dUser » Fri Dec 07, 2012 7:29 pm

Hi guys,
i really need to run my browser IE 10 in protected mode, i am running windows 7 , so ive been hacked lately and i suspect through IE exploit ..anyways so IE 10 now offers enhanced protection for protected mode in the advanced tabs ..however i also have set up GPOs for IE so i cant change it when i run it in sandboxed or normally since the settings is being held by GPO..so i wonder how do i run my IE 10 sandboxed with protected mode,i dont mind if theres any incompatibility if there is i will try a workaround but i really need to run it in protected mode!!!
Any help is greatly appreciated !!
Kind regards,

Since I'm still using XP there's no way for me to test anything in IE10.
Until now, if I remember correctly, Sandboxie has needed to run IE in non-protected mode with Sandboxie providing the protection.
I haven't read of any way to change that.

Hi Guest10,
first of all i appreciate your reply but if i cant enable the protected mode for IE sandboxie is not an option unfortunatly for me =( i am really willing to use it since it makes ur system more secure for many reasons..im still running Sandboxie for skype, cmd and other applications but ..what i really wanted was to use IE with sandboxie =(
but i look forward for further replies, coz there is no topic about this on google ,at least i havent found yet...who s the maintainer of this forums? the developer? i was wondering if theres any cfg file which i can enable protected mode..
Thanks in advance,

I'm afraid Sandboxie and IE Protected Mode are not compatible with each other. If it's crucial that your web browser tell you "Protected Mode: ON" then you can't use Sandboxie. On the other hand, if you want to list the specific points of IE Protected Mode that are important to you, then perhaps I can explain why Sandboxie is just as good.

I trust this also applies to IE9/Win 7? :?:

Hello guys,
thanks for replying ..well as i said i dont mind about incompatibilities and i think i maybe can fix the issues ...i want to use a setting that applies to ie9 which will definetly work for ie10 as well...i just want to have protected mode enabled thats all :D
so you asked me the advantages of protected mode with enhanced protected mode?
ok here it goes :
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2012 ... -mode.aspx
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ieinternals/arc ... sktop.aspx

read it in the posted order so you will have a better understanding of how it works!
i look forward for replies and sorry for taking too long to answer..am setting up lots of registry hacks in tcpip/afd/dnscache and fixing some old values and updating it since my network is underattack ..it was bogging down so i had to fix it now everything looks better so thats the reason why i havent replied yet ...anyways ..
Kind regards,
