Sandboxie won't work Comodo Firewall 6.0.260739.2674 Win7 64

Post by ferenc » Fri Dec 21, 2012 6:40 pm

Sandboxie doesn't appear to work with Comodo Firewall 6.0.260739.2674 on Win7 64 bit. I just updated from Comodo Firewall version 5, it was working fine before the update, now it is not working. In Comodo Firewall, I have disabled Sandbox, disabled Behavior Blocker. Even tried adding Sandboxie applications SandboxieDcomLaunch.exe and SandboxieRpcSs.exe to HIPS rules with Windows System Application ruleset, even though I have HIPS totally disabled I thought I would try this.

The symptoms for Firefox under Sandboxie are as follows. I load Wikipedia Fart article, it browses fine.

Load Youtube and try to play video, freezes totally. Have to kill Firefox in task manager.

Load jamendo.com, freezes totally. have to kill Firefox in task manager.

All three sites load and work perfectly when Firefox loaded outside of sandbox.

The symptoms for Chrome under Sandboxie are simple. Not even Google.com loads, not even About page loads. Nothing works. Outside of Sandbox, all three sites listed above--wikipedia fart article, youtube.com, and jamendo.com, load and work perfectly.

Would appreciate any help or insight anyone could provide. Any other ideas to make this work?

I'm also having an issue with these two. At first I thought it was WSA or firefox. I normally have drop my rights and only things i need to run in start/run and internet restrictions. I allowed all to run and ticked off drop my rights. It still wouldn't run with CIS. I then did a default CIS and a default sandbox. Still wouldn't run. I'm not really sure where the issue is. I'm sure it's something as easy as adding a certain file to run. I just came seem to find out though which file it is.

I've the same problem with Comodo Dragon. Dragon is launched sandboxed but can not access internet. Except for the internet access, Sandboxie seems to run normally and there are no error messages.

Win 7 32 bits and win 8 32 bits
CIS 6
Sandboxie 3.76

Anyone else having any issues? I'm still getting the same problem. Any news on what the issue may be?

Sorry about the inconvenience. I haven't been able to look into that yet, but I might be able to get to this next week.

Thank you tzuk.

To be noted, the problem doesn't arise with Opera or IE.

same issue here. here are a few things i've noted

1) If you run firefox it appears to work even with CIS6. however, when you try to go to youtube videos or anything that requires flash, it basically hangs the browser.
2) chrome and comodo dragon do not work in sandboxie. its like there is no internet traffic at all nothing loads up.
3) Everything appears to work in the "sandbox" that comodo has in place but it is a pain to use.

i haven't messed with IE.

I've noticed the same thing when I updated comodo last night. The problem is that comodo/sandboxie refuses to start flashplayer, which then freezes firefox if run inside the sandbox. Haven't found a way around it yet but the fault has to be comodo since sandboxie worked perfectly fine before.

Having the same issue here.

Win 8 Pro x64

I don't know if its CIS6 though.

I removed CIS6, I was having some other issues as well, but after the uninstall I was still having the same issue, firefox would freeze up with Flash.

I then removed Sandboxie and rebooted, everything ran fine.

I then reinstalled CIS6 and everything is still running fine.

I have yet to reinstall Sandboxie since I'm at work but will try when I have time.

So far everything is running fine with CIS6 and NO sandboxie.

same issue

Hello,

i have the same issue as Girvan. After installing CIS 6 my Comodo Dragon browser cannot access the Internet using Sandboxie. However outside of Sandboxie Comodo dragon behaves as normal.

Windows XP Pro SP3
Sandboxie 3.76
Comodo Dragon 23.4.0.0 (Portable version)
Comodo IceDragon 17.0.1.0 (Portable version)
Firefox 18
Internet Explorer 8

All other browsers work perfectly - it's just the Comodo Dragon (Portable version) that has the issue.

I hope this info helps,

Best regards,

Ed.

I uninstalled comodo and installed another firewall, that solved all the problems I were having. Went with privatefirewall, but it's interface is just horrible but it works...

I have tested a number of other software firewalls, Comodo seems to be the only one that is reliable and provides the protection I need. I have had to revert back to version 5.12.256249.2599 of Comodo Firewall, disable Updates and uncheck the box for the update server. This is successfully keeping it from updating for the time being.

I am hoping Tzuk may be able to find us a fix for this incompatibility, since there will soon be known security vulnerabilities in Comodo Firewall 5, which will not be patched without using version 6.

Thanks,
Ferenc
