Can't Print With New HP Deskjet (I've searched the forum)

Post by sandboxie12345 » Wed Feb 12, 2014 4:08 am

Okay, before anyone hangs me for not searching before posting a new thread, I have searched extensively on this and have tried applying all the fixes mentioned that could be related to my problem. Nothing has worked.

Sandboxie Version 3.76, 32-bit.
Operating System Windows XP Home SP3 32-bit

The problem:

I have just installed a new printer to replace my old damaged one. Now, when I try to print a web page from a sandboxed Google Chrome, all that happens is the print jobs tray icon for that particular printer pops up for a few seconds and then disappears a few seconds later, and nothing prints. If I double click on the tray icon to bring up the pending jobs for that printer, it has the document ready for a few seconds and then says "deleting", and then it disappears.

Everything prints fine outside of the sandbox. Also, I sued to be able to print documents from a sandboxed web page just fine with my Epson printer which is now broken.

What I have tried:

I have tried the COM Access fix for the HP Universal Print Driver mentioned on the "Known Conflicts" section of these forums. I have also tried logging it with the Resource Access Monitor, and adding the following to IPC ACCESS -> DIRECT ACCESS in sandbox settings:

c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\hpbytxui11.dll
c:\windows\system32\prntvpt.dll

Nothing has worked.

Here is a copy of the log I just took from the resource access monitor whilst trying to print a web page from chrome:

I don't see anything obvious in the access monitor listing. You could try OpenIpcPath= \BaseNamedObjects\PclmsFileMapping. We have a template for HP Universal Print Driver. Is that what you have? It could be a different version than we have seen.

I tried the above exception you mentioned but it still isn't working.

Yes I have applied the template for HP Universal Printer Driver:

[Template_HP_UniversalPrintDriver]
Tmpl.Title=HP Universal Print Driver
Tmpl.Class=Print
Tmpl.Url=http://www.hp.com/
Tmpl.Scan=s
Tmpl.ScanKey=\REGISTRY\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{877A5D52-5F6F-4175-907D-A6AC4E8F1171}
OpenClsid={877A5D52-5F6F-4175-907D-A6AC4E8F1171}

I also created an exception for the key {D713F357-7920-4B91-9EB6-49054709EC7A} under OpenClsid, because it was mentioned in one of the other threads as a potential COM object that needed to be run across the perimeter of the sandbox.

However, I have just run a search for both keys in my registry and nothing is found, so I'm assuming I have the wrong keys and that the exceptions I have applied are irrelevant.

Is there a way of determining the correct object by finding the information from the setup folder that was created when I installed the HP driver software? Like in one of the .ini files?
