One Dot Icon - No Apps Running but Contents

Post by STV0726 » Fri Jul 09, 2010 1:04 am

I think there should be a 'just one red dot' icon to indicate contents in the Sandbox but no applications running.

Because the way it is now when all apps close it turns back to the standard yellow icon, but the problem with that for me is, it becomes confusing because a lot of us have a Sandbox that doesn't auto-purge that we use for software evaluation and when nothing is running there is still contents in it, we didn't delete the contents, we just don't have anything running.

Just a suggestion. Go SBIE! :D

It has been suggested in the past, that the tray icon be used to indicate that files are still in a sandbox.
That might be helpful for those with only one sandbox.
But for those with multiple sandboxes, some of which are intentionally not empty, the tray icon would simply indicate what we already know: a sandbox is not empty.
I have Firefox 4 beta in a sandbox for testing purposes. So I know that sandbox is not empty.

I think it would be nice as an optional setting, so that if you have a sandbox that you know will always be full, you could disable it.

I wonder if that might confuse some people?

I think an idea like this could still be useful in Sandboxie Control, where each sandbox already has its own icon.

That is kind of nice.
Maybe something will be implemented like that, since tzuk will be working on Control enhancements.

Hey everyone, thanks for your replies!

Yes, what I had in mind was NOT changing the way the tray icon displays, but rather, changing the icon for each of the sandboxes themselves when you open Sandboxie Control up.

So for example, if you had three sandboxes, one empty, one with no active applications/processes but still files in there, and one currently active, it would show:

[::] Sandbox SecureBox Active [#]Mozilla Firefox - http://www.unsafe-website_cant-touch-this-PC-lol.com[#]

[..] Sandbox EvaluateBox Passive (Note: Either show a preview of files present here or leave this field blank.)

[] Sandbox FreewareBox (Note: Keep these two fields blank as is; nothing shown.)[/b]
