Portable Firefox - Application unable to start correctly

Portable Firefox - Application unable to start correctly
I can no longer use Firefox sandboxed. When I attempt to run Firefox (version 52) with Sandboxie I get the error "The application was unable to start correctly (oxcoooooo5). Click OK to Close the application"
Any idea how to correct this issue and be able to use Firefox with Sandboxie again?
I am on Windows 10 (64 bit), Firefox V52 (portable edition), and Sandboxie 5.16 (64 bit)

Re: Firefox 52 and Sanboxie 5.16
Perhaps upgrading to latest beta fixes your problem. In version 5.17.6 Multiprocess became supported by SBIE.

You could also try, 1. Running Firefox in a new default settings sandbox, 2. Create a new Firefox profile, 3. Temporarily disable your antivirus and other security programs to see if Firefox runs sandboxed without error afterward (tell us the security programs you are using).JF_Sly wrote:Thanks I just tried that and no success, get the same error. Ok tried creating a new FireFox profile and also turning off antivirus programs. (AVG Free) and still get the same error. Not sure on #1. I right click the firefoxportable.exe file and select run sandboxed. Not sure if that uses a new default settings sandbox or not. If so, then still have the same error as well.bo.elam wrote:You could also try, 1. Running Firefox in a new default settings sandbox, 2. Create a new Firefox profile, 3. Also I updated to the latest Sandboxie 5.18 as well and still get the error.

Re: Portable Firefox - Application unable to start correctly
Hello JF_Sly ,
I separated the thread as I don't think is related to multi-process at this point.
I downloaded Firefox Portable and installed it in my Downloads Folder.
I am able to launch it Sandboxed on Windows 10 x64 Creators Update + SBIE 5.18
Do you have any addons and/or toolbars in Firefox?
Does the issue follow you to a new Sandbox?
Regards,
Barb.-

No I do not have any Addon or extra toolbars. There is 3 plugins OpenH264 Video Codec, Shockwave Flash, Widevine Content decryption module by Google.Barb@Invincea wrote:Hello JF_Sly ,

I figured out how to create a new sandbox, did so (without copying any settings) and attempted to run in that sandbox. still get the error.

Re: Portable Firefox - Application unable to start correctly
JF_Sly ,
Bring up Sandboxie Control and select "Sandbox" in the Menu
Then, select "Create new Sandbox".
The other option is to delete the contents of your existing Sandbox and see if that helps.

I got the new sandbox created and tried but still get the error. I had already previously tried emptying/deleting the sandbox contents. still get the same error.Barb@Invincea wrote:JF_Sly ,

Re: Portable Firefox - Application unable to start correctly
This seems to be an Application Path issue in the Windows registry. If you have ForceProcess=firefoxportable.exe already set and then relocate the portable folder, you get an error.
If you run it unsandboxed, it seems the app resets the registry to the new file path. But if you change the location and then run it sandboxed you get the error.

Re: Portable Firefox - Application unable to start correctly
Hello JoeHood,
I moved the installation folder to the "Pictures" folder and received an error, but not the same as OP's. I got "NSIS Error - Error launching installer"
The error did not go away until I moved the folder to the Desktop (which was not the original location, but it seemed to be the only location that would solve the problem).
You can also bypass it by running it in a new Sandbox.

I have not moved the folder at all. I did upgrade to the newest version but left it in the same location.
Re: Portable Firefox - Application unable to start correctly
Moving the folder is most likely only one of the ways to create an error. Same with which error is produced. You can try an experiment if you like....
Create a new sandbox with default settings - right click on the shortcut or the exe that you use for the portable program - run sandboxed - choose to run in that new sandbox.
If it opens correctly - that can narrow down the problem.

Re: Portable Firefox - Application unable to start correctly
Hello JF_Sly,
Can you please try re-downloading Firefox Portable (to a new location), launch it outside Sbie to ensure it loads fine, then, launch it Sandboxed?
Do other browsers/apps work in your Sandboxes?
