Blue Screen of Death

Post by robbieb » Wed Aug 16, 2017 4:37 pm

I have repeatedly gotten a BSOD. When I ran WhoCrashed I got this message:

On Wed 8/16/2017 9:02:42 AM your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: sbiedrv.sys (SbieDrv+0x197C1)
Bugcheck code: 0x124 (0x0, 0xFFFFFA8010816028, 0xBE000000, 0x801136)
Error: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR
file path: C:\Program Files\Sandboxie\SbieDrv.sys
product: Sandboxie
company: Sandboxie Holdings, LLC
description: Sandboxie Kernel Mode Driver
Bug check description: This bug check indicates that a fatal hardware error has occurred. This bug check uses the error data that is provided by the Windows Hardware Error Architecture (WHEA).
This is likely to be caused by a hardware problem. This problem might also be caused because of overheating (thermal issue).
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: sbiedrv.sys (Sandboxie Kernel Mode Driver, Sandboxie Holdings, LLC).
Google query: Sandboxie Holdings, LLC WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

I'm running a PC using Windows 7 Professional, Mozilla Firefox 55.0.2 (x64 en-US) as my default browser, McAfee Total Protection, Sandboxie 5.20 (64-bit), on a computer which has Veracrypt full disk encryption.

Even though the WhoCrashed program suggested that a possible cause could be a thermal one, I checked and my computer is not running hot and most of the time is on the cool side.

Please let me know if you have an update to the driver sbiedrv.sys which was identified as the probable root cause of this system error.

Hello robbieb ,

The latest version of Sandboxie is 5.20 (release) and 5.21.2 beta:
viewtopic.php?f=62&t=24741

Did you download Sandboxie from our website?
What actions were you performing when the BSOD occurred? Were you starting something in Sandboxie?
Please check your computer for any outdated drivers to see if that helps.

Is there any other security software installed on your computer?

Could you please provide the full memory dump ( C:\Windows\memory.dmp) so that our devs can review it? You can upload it to a file hosting site and provide us the link.

Regards,
Barb.-
