change of transparency for sandboxed/unsandboxed windows
change of transparency for sandboxed/unsandboxed windows
I would suggest a cosmetic feature
why not change the transparency of the windows dynamically?
if the selected window is of a sandboxed program all the windows
of the unsandboxed ones will change to trasparent
and conversely
if the selected window is unsandboxed all the sandboxed windows
will be transparent

not sure if i would like full transparency, maybe 90% or something...
at least the option of turning sandboxed applications "ghost" (90%visible) will make it clear you're working in a 'ghost' area...
would be a very nice feature... but i dont expect tzuk likes it, as he didn't like the "greenborder" idea also

Well I think it'd make a good feature, I just don't think tzuk would like the idea...
Also, I agree with street, I wouldn't want it to be a full transparency, just enough transparency that you can distinguish a sandboxed window from a non sandboxed window...

I love the ## marks, but I do agree that some skins hide them and leave you wondering. But I think a shell change like that would be a lot more work than you might think. Plus I would not like a non-skinning program like SandboxIE taking over the 'looks' of my computer. What about conflicts with programs like WindowBlinds?

I actually started wondering the same thing....MitchE323 wrote:What about conflicts with programs like WindowBlinds?
Also, notice how the OP actually wants the UN-sandboxed windows to be transparent, but it should be the other way around, it should be the sandboxed windows that are transparent IMO...

HAHAHA, Omg, this is actually quite erie...tzuk wrote:I don't think such a feature should be integral to Sandboxie. Maybe someone could write a script/program/utility that tracks the active window, and if it has characteristics of a sandboxed window, changes the transparency.
I JUST made an app that does something similar to this!!!

Should I post the app for you guys??
It has a few small bugs, but nothing major.

Actually, I would post it now, BUT, it works a little differently than what these people want.MitchE323 wrote:Post away app boy, all you need to add is a signal to your existing app on whether the window is sandboxed or not.
My app is inspired by the "Dim" plugin for Compiz-Fusion on Linux. So it dims the screen and only highlights the active window...
What I could do though is modify the code to allow it to apply the "highlighting" to all windows that are sandboxed or part of a sandboxed instance, it just might take a while..
Should I try and do this, or just leave this topic alone??

It's a matter of taste. So It should be left to the user to choose.MitchE323 wrote:But maybe some input as to which are the transparant windows - the sandboxed ones or the others.
I would prefer a little more complex transparency scheme
If I use a sandboxed window all the sandboxed windows
should be more visible. If I use a normal unsandboxed one
all the normal windows should be more visible
thank you for your help
