Sandboxie: Developed for privacy or security?

Post by Unknown_User_701 » Thu Apr 05, 2007 12:59 pm

I would be interested to know what prompted you to develop this fine pice fo software?

I have seen some sites advertise the product as a way to cover up your on-line tracks. So in this light, it is more of a privacy software.

I however, downloaded it for security purposes, to protect my PC from malware.

Just curious if the developer would share the story behind the product. What did you intend when you first started working on sandboxie?

Both security and privacy are by products of my original goal, which was to create an isolation layer to keep the "real" computer clean.

This was prompted by a piece of malware that landed onto my computer and just didn't want to let go. So I guess you can say, security was more of an issue for me, than privacy.
