Can't copy links from a Sandboxed browser to Desktop
I can't copy (or drag and drop) a link from a Sandboxed browser (IE or Firefox), or from the address bar, to a Desktop shortcut.
How can I do this?
How can I do this?
Yeah, that's part of Sandboxie's isolation of sandboxed programs. On XP (with Firefox - haven't tried with IE) this is a workaround:
Right-click the link and choose Copy. Then right-click an open area of the Desktop and choose New > Shortcut.
When you see the box for 'location of the item', paste the text from the clipboard into the box.
Click 'Next' and give the shortcut a name.
Double-clicking the resulting shortcut will open a new tab in my sandboxed Firefox browser, as long as the sandboxed browser is already running. Otherwise, it will open the default browser unsandboxed.
I don't have Firefox forced to run sandboxed, but if I did, then I suppose that the shortcut would launch a sandboxed browser.

Can't copy links from a Sandboxed browser to Desktop
Thanks for the reply. Your multi-step operation accomplishes what I want to do.
Sandboxie - The need to do this seems to be unnecessarily restrictive. After all, if I can click on a browser URL link in any forced browser window or tab and open the link - then I don't understand what is to be gained by preventing a user from copying a link to the Desktop and opening it from there.
Sandboxie - Please provide an option to allow dragging of links from a sandboxed browser to create a shortcut on the Desktop or any other location.
Thanks

I'm afraid that's not possible, as it would open the possibility for a sandboxed program to exploit this feature.r55555 wrote:Sandboxie - Please provide an option to allow dragging of links from a sandboxed browser to create a shortcut on the Desktop or any other location.
But there is a very easy workaround. You can right-click a link and select "Add to Favorites", this adds a favorite in the sandbox. Then Sandboxie pops up the Immediate Recover window, and you select Recover to Any Folder, then select the Desktop folder.

DeskCut is a simple extension for Firefox to save a bookmark to the current page on the desktop (or any other folder.) See https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/66
It works well with a sandboxed Firefox. Of course, Sandboxie must have the permission to write in that folder. (Sandbox Settings -> Resource Access -> File Access -> Direct Access -> select firefox.exe and add the folder to the list.)

Excellent, thank you for this link.Anonymous wrote:DeskCut is a simple extension for Firefox to save a bookmark to the current page on the desktop (or any other folder.) See https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/66

I can drag a shortcut into Sandboxed Firefox or IE6
I don't know why others say you can't drop a shortcut into Sandboxed IE6...?

Same here, works fine.TornadoKat wrote:I don't know why others say you can't drop a shortcut into Sandboxed IE6...?
I have the solution to saving Firefox links
All I had to do was open My Computer in Sandboxed mode and then I could drag a link from Firefox to whatever folder I wanted in My Computer, still sandboxed of course, then recover the links in Sandboxie. It requires an extra step but still faster than manually creating links with a copy and paste.
