Error: Chrome 24 with sandboxie 3.76

Post by gerd99 » Wed Dec 26, 2012 4:21 pm

Hello,

I'm German, please excuse my bad English.

I have Chrome as the default browser version 24 in use. Sandboxie as I have the registered version 3.76 on Windows 8 Pro in action.

I have the following problem:
When I start the browser under Sandboxie is the following error message: SBIE2327 Error in COM server: [21/740]

what can I do to eliminate the problem ?

Error 740 means "administrator privileges are required", and Chrome does ask for admin privileges when setting itself as a default browser.

Your Chrome in the sandbox may keep thinking that it has to set itself as a default browser, even though Chrome outside the sandbox has already taken care of that.

So my advice is to delete the contents of your sandbox to make sure the two versions of Chrome are in sync.

Thank you

I now calling sandbox web browser launched with admin rights and the error is gone. :D

Update:
I had to undo this. Now came a another error that makes me more worried.

When I closed the browser (Chrome) in each case a window came the two error messages:

1. PopUp windows
SBIE2313 Could Start.exe (740) do not run

2. PopUp windows
The requested operation requires admin rights
Start.exe /box:DefaultBox delete_sandbox_silent

If Sandboxie's Drop Rights Restriction is used on Win 8 (and I don't know if it is), have you tried unchecking it at:
Sandbox Settings > Restrictions > Drop Rights
Paul
Win 10 Home 64-bit (w/admin rights) - Zone Alarm Pro Firewall, MalwareBytes Premium A/V, Cyberfox, Thunderbird

I think maybe you right-clicked Properties on Start.exe (or some shortcut that leads to Start.exe, like "Run any program under Sandboxie") and then you went to Compatibility tab and selected "Run this program as an administrator."

And now you get errors that Windows wants to elevate Start.exe to administrator privileges.
