Youtube information
Youtube information
A quick question: how come youtube is offering me stuff I searched for before even if I'm not logged in the Google account and am using a sandboxed Firefox which gets deleted when I close it?
Re: Youtube information
Hi Bellzemos, Do you set bookmarks to be saved out of the Firefox sandbox? If you do, history gets saved as well. What you can do is either set Firefox to never remember history or use custom settings to accomplish that. I do the latter.

Re: Youtube information
Hi Bo! No, bookmarks are not ticked in the Sandboxie settings, only the phishing database access is allowed under the Firefox settings. I can't figure it out. I close the Firefox, everything gets delted, I'm not signed in any Google/Youtube account and yet when I start up the Firefox again I get offered videos based on my older searches on Youtube. Any ideas?

Cookies and/or your ip?
Re: Youtube information
1. Before running firefox sandbox, have you checked it was deleted(explore contents)? Background processes will cause the contents not to be deleted not until its terminated.
2. Assuming you haven't set any preset or direct access to firefox profile, have you cleared the unsandbox firefox(Checked/Clear Everything) before running firefox sandbox? The reason for this is that cached data in unsandbox firefox will be use when running firefox in an empty sandbox.
3. Probably, they are using IP Address for tracking(An IP for tracking is inaccurate since IP Address could be shared)

Re: Youtube information
1. Yes, it's deleted.
2. Yes, I never use unsandboxed Firefox except when I update Firefox.
3. Interesting. Is that really possible? Though I don't think it's that since it offered me things I specifically serached for.

Re: Youtube information
Depending on your ISP, they could also manipulate your internet traffic and inject it with a unique tracking ID, so you can be identified even with a dynamic ip address.

Yes, it's possible and easy to implement. They have logs pertain to your IP and searches.Bellzemos wrote: 3. Interesting. Is that really possible? Though I don't think it's that since it offered me things I specifically serached for.

They might be using canvas fingerprinting http://digiwonk.wonderhowto.com/how-to/ ... r-0156506/
Re: Youtube information
OK, it wasn't the IP thing. I run CCleaner and deleted everything and the problem is gone. Then I went on Youtube again, searched for a couple of specific things and then closed Firefox (sandbox deleted itself). When I run it again and went to Youtube there was no suggestions regarding my specific searches.
So whatever it was mush have been in form of cookies or something like that since CCleaner got rid of it. But how that happened I really don't know. I'm 100% sure I was seeing the [#] signs when I was searching for the stuff I was seraching and yet it somehow got saved. It never happened (knowlingly at least) that Sandboxie would "leak" stuff out of a sandbox. If that is in fact even the case here.
What else could it be? I'm really curious.

Re: Youtube information
When you updated Firefox you must have browse the net, add bookmarks, and addons, eventually forgot to delete Internet Traces(History, cookies, etc...) before running it sandboxed!

Then it's clear to me that you didn't do #2. To be specific check and clear everything in unsandboxed firefox before running in sandbox.Bellzemos wrote:OK, it wasn't the IP thing. Re: Youtube information
I was running Firefox sandboxed, 100%.
When I first noticed the problem (video suggestions related to my searches on Youtube) I closed the Firefox and sandbox auto-deleted itself. Then I went back on Youtube (sandboxed Firefox, 100%) did some new searches and closed Firefox again (sandbox deleted itself again, as it should). When I run Firefox (sandboxed, as always) again there were also the new searches of mine suggested. That's really weird.
Only then, when I run CCleaner all was gone and no more suggestions when I run it again. It's really weird and I don't get it but it happened. Other than that I never had any such problems with Sandboxie except for once when I was installing a printer and it opened it's HTML manual file in non-sandboxed Firefox even though I have Firefox always forced to run in Sandboxie. That was when I had v4.12 installed, now I have v4.14.
I'm still curious what was it really.

Re: Youtube information
Any other ideas, anyone? Anyone using Sandboxie maybe had a similar experience?
