i was wondering if there could be an alternative sandbox path (like main sandbox is in ie: f:\sandbox\ this would be permanent like it is now),
but have a option to look for alternative sandboxes in other specified directory's ie z:\sandbox, y:\boxes (this could be useful for removable drives or CD - DVD / truecrypt / usb / network drives...etc) and have sandbox detect when the drive was mounted and auto add the sandboxes names into the menu, or you could keep the box name in the menu just add some text next to it like sandbox2 (dismounted),
another option could be store the ini settings in the main sandbox folder (where the sandboxes are) this way it could be cross compatible across multipule sandboxie's since the sandbox settings are actully stored with the boxes location ie (y:\sandbox\sandbox.ini , f:\sandbox\sandbox.ini , y:\boxes\sandbox.ini).
also easy to backup, just need to backup the boxes and settings are preserved, next time you install sandbox just point to the path and everythings ready to go.
alternative sandbox paths?
At least the separate sandbox folder for every sandbox is worth considering; if not specified a default folder will be used.
I had thinked about this too, would run some sandboxes on a RAM-Disk, some not. I do not have an opinion about this automount feature.
@ini: At the moment I prefer current solution, one .ini for all sandboxes.

well for the ini suggestion i meant not for individual sandboxes , when i said z:\sandbox \ y:\boxes the layout would be like this
(say this is sandbox from work location or another pc on a removeable drive it would contain multiple sandboxes)
z:\sandbox
- z:\sandbox\sandbox.ini (contain all the settings for these individual sandboxes)
- z:\sandbox\defaultbox\
- z:\sandbox\applications\
- z:\sandbox\work\
same thing for this one (say on an encrypted truecrypt partition)
y:\boxes
- y:\boxes\sandbox.ini (contain all the settings for these sandboxes)
- y:\boxes\forcedprograms\
- y:\boxes\offline\
- y:\boxes\games\
this way sandboxie could dynamically add in sandboxes when they become available with all the settings preserved.
maybe when adding a alternative path have an option that enables storing the ini in that folder or in the main ini, a single ini is good but if you only use a sandbox once in awhile its pretty useless to have it in the menu, also if the sandbox is from another pc you would have to re add all the settings particular to that sb..

xellos, these issues were discussed before so I won't address them in depth, except this.
(1) The sandbox folder is considered a temporary folder and I don't think it's a proper place for the configuration file.
(2) You can use the FileRootPath setting to override the sandbox location on a per-sandbox basis.
