Fixed location for recovery

Post by mplanck » Mon Oct 18, 2010 12:49 pm

I would like to be able to specify a list of locations that a user can recover to, rather than the location where the temp file resides. So, to have recovery setup on the my documents folder, for example, but forcing any recovery to go to c:\documents, or something similar. This way all recovered files end up in the same location and it is easier to place a forced folder on this location.

If you are talking about your own use then you can just download all your stuff to some folder C:\WHATEVER and specify that folder in both Quick Recovery and Forced Folders.

If you are talking about forcing someone else to download everything to one folder, then it's a different issue.

This modification would be for a policy that I utilize for numerous users in my organization. For just myself, yes, this would be easy and I could take the action you specify. But, I want this to be enforced for other users in my environment and I thought a modification to the recovery function would assist in this matter. This would make it slightly easier for the users to work in the sandbox but still give me some control over where this data went.

If you would like more detail or something is not clear, let me know.

I'm not sure I can force Firefox to download everything to one folder. But perhaps I can make Quick Recovery offer only a set of pre-configured destination folders, with no "Recover to Same Folder" and no option to add more folders, except by the admin.

This is exactly the functionality that I would like, with the ability to specify the allowed destination folders. Also, the option to supply different title bar contents and description/details in the quick recovery window, so we can customize this window for our users.
