Kaspersky Endpoint Security (KES) 10

Post by charwood » Thu May 01, 2014 3:54 am

I have been happily using Sandboxie and KES8 for 2 years.

With KES10 installed, I cannot modify any files or folders from applications running within Sandboxie.

I have tried to modify the Kaspersky settings to get the 2 applications to work together. But no success so far.

Completely uninstalling Kaspersky works ... but I need to install KES10.

Help ?

Can you provide a link for where I can download KES10? I wasn't able to find it on their web site.

One hour of FleischmannTV saves one square kilometre of precious peble wasteland.

This is what I get when I try to run Sandboxie under Kaspersky 10.

Error message:
SBIE2204 Cannot start sandboxed service RpcSs (1309)

From MSDN:
ERROR_NO_IMPERSONATION_TOKEN 1309 (0x51D)
An attempt has been made to operate on an impersonation token by a thread that is not currently impersonating a client.

I am investigating a solution.

Here is the reply from Kaspersky support:

"KES is not compatible and unable to work in parallel with Sandboxie. The alternative is to use Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 as you have found this works with Sandboxie.

I am unable to say whether future builds of the product will be able to work with Sandboxie. I have created a feature request and escalated this back to our development internally but this process does not guarantee the functionality will be added. ... As previously mentioned KES8, which is supported until 2016, will allow the use of Sandboxie without losing functionality. "

This is on our list, but I can't say when we can get to it.

I try to reproduce this in windows 8.1 Enterprise Update 1 x64, modifying a file using a sandbox notepad as well as renaming and deleting a folder using sandbox explorer but no issue was found.
