Ability to sandbox existing programs

Post by champ » Tue Jul 24, 2007 6:50 pm

Hi

Just would like to say what a gr8 program sandboxie is, is it possible to add a feature to sandbox running programs?

say if i ran firefox without sandboxing it at first then came across a potentially dangerous site which cannot be trusted it would be useful if i could then sandbox the existing browser without starting the browser again from the sandbox

Thanks

i actually find it more useful to always surf sandboxed, that way even unknown threats are captured. if you only sandbox when you think there is a threat then you are vulnerable to drive by downloads and rollover downloads from ads and such.

Not sure if it could be incorporated, it would be like trying to take a program (like ff) thats already running, and trying to move it to another hd, it wouldnt work because it is already in use. Although it is a good idea and i too would love to see it incorporated, i just dont know if it could be done. :?

as sandboxie uses a kernel level driver this should be possible theoreticaly...
but whats the point? when you came across some dangerous site, the harm is already done... you're too late with the sandbox then

Actually, I'm not sure it's possible, and even if it was, it would be a huge amount of work.
