I have problem with installing Avira Internet Security 2012 when Sandboxie is installed on computer. Installation hangs at starting components stage and simply doesnt finish. Only thing that works is Windows Explorer, and it's impossible to start any other application. When I uninstall Sandboxie, installation works perfectly. I tested it with both version 3.58 and 3.59.06, same thing happens. I tried the same thing again inside virtual machine, with only Sandboxie and Avira, problem is also present. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64bit, fully updated.

I had the same problem: by uninstalling Sandboxie, Avira Premium 2012 installed without any problems. My system is Vista Ultimate 32 bit SP2. I sincerely hope something can be done about it.

I don't think that I can do anything about this, you will probably have to post this problem on the Avira forum.

There is obviously conflict between those two programs, so I did put this on Avira forum too, hopefully this can be resolved somehow.

Avira 2012 is very problematic, (due to its own nature) it caused my desktop to not function at all -- fatal conflict with my firewall. So I booted up from safemode and uninstalled it. When reinstalling it from the normal environment I unchecked realtime component installation. This time everything went well and it works as an on demand scanner for my purposes.

I had the problem to start sandboxie (sandboxieRpcSs.exe) when configure Avira 2012 ---> ( enable ) Protect files and registry entries from manipulation . So I must disable it and now everything works fine.

maki please post about Panda URL Filtering in a separate topic, I would like to ask some follow up questions but I don't want to clutter this topic.

Does the installation of the current version of Avira work without problems in the meantime?

Just install Avira as on demand it should work ok. Unceck any toolbar offered and also make sure that the realtime component is not selected. That should do the trick.

I did it this way, and it seems to work so far:
- Uninstall Sandboxie
- Reboot
- Install Avira (in my case: Avira Antivirus Premium 2012, 12.0.0.877) - including realtime component
(- Reboot)
- Install Sandboxie again

Apparently a patch is available from Avira but only for beta testers. The patch will allegedly, become available to all users, very soon. This is good news, but a shame it has taken almost two months so far.

@Dave
That's good news as they seemed eager to rush out a half baked version. Really makes me appreciate how Sandboxie is a rock soild program at any given stage.
